Mental Health Association of Rockland County
Mental Health Association of Rockland County is an organization that provides mental health training, workshops, presentations, and information for the residents of Rockland County and other areas around their locality (Gramm, 2010). This organization has several programs to assist individuals suffering from mental health in the area and other and other regions as well.
Primarily, the organization provides relevant literature and information on mental health to the general public to create awareness of the sickness. The materials are in the form of videos that are aired on national television, brochures, pamphlets and fact sheets on numerous mental health topics. Additionally, the organization offers mental health first aid courses that help the public understand, identify, and respond to substance abuse disorders and signs of mental illness. This program has been promoted by the President, Mental Health America, Senate, and the Congress in an effort of encouraging non-mental health professionals and so far it has been very successful (Gramm, 2010). The attendees include caring citizens, clergy, students, and teachers among others.
It is, therefore, evident that the organization is impactful in ensuring that mental health awareness is taking place. Moreover, the organization offers suicide prevention training that trains the general public on how to recognize suicide warning signs and what to say or do in those circumstances and provides mental health training in many parts of the County (Gramm, 2010). The organization is a significant force to mental health awareness and healing. For the organization to run, funds are necessary. Thus, the primary source of funding for Mental Health Association of Rockland County is private charities and foundations that are focused on equipping organizations of this nature both technically and financially.
