Various Laws
As I will describe five different laws I want to give the definition of the word “law” itself. So law is “A rule of conduct or procedure established by custom, agreement, or authority” (law, n.d).What is criminal law? Criminal law is one of the bodies of law which focuses on different crimes and defines punishment for them. The other name of criminal law is penal law. Criminal law proscribes different undesirable acts – everything that is harmful, threatening or somehow puts in danger the health, property, safety or moral welfare of people. The example of criminal law: law that prohibits mayhem or murder.Civil law is opposite to the criminal law. Another name of it is common law. Civil law does not put emphasis on punishment but the main goal of it is to resolve disputes and provide some reparations or payment to the victim of the crime. The examples of the cases are the following: child custody or property damage.
Generally speaking constitutional law is a branch of law which deals with various entities and the state. By the state I mean three branches of power: legislative, judicial and executive. Criminal law controls the way the Constitution is implemented and interpreted. The examples of its cases are freedom of speech or right to work. What is administrative law? As you may guess, administrative law is also the branch of law. It regulates the creation and operation of administrative agencies. It is necessary to mention that administrative law is considered to be a part of public law. This particular branch deals with the way how decisions are made within the administrative units of government, which are the parts of national regulation schemes in various fields. The examples of its cases are employment, taxation, transport or trade.
Last but not least is international law. This type of law defines set of rules, which should be followed between different nations or states towards each other. It also includes the duties rights of citizens of one country towards the citizens of another sovereign country. There is no exact mechanism how to create those special rules and requirements. This las is built piecemeal – by memorandums, treaties, conventions and so on and so forth. The examples: abolition of slavery, copyright infringement.
