Research conduction, as well as memo drafting processes, are crucial lessons every student learns in the course of his/her studies. More relevant are the teachings a student acquires through actual involvement. Through life skills acquired and valuable academic information, an individual hence or otherwise appreciates the importance of such a process. Various challenges encountered prepares one for future studies and insightful changes which if effected would lead to better results. As a person, I gained a real understanding of the process when conducting my previous research and it is evident if given another chance I would execute things differently.
Firstly, I was quite extensive in my topic choice. Upon completion of my research, I realized my subject of analysis had been too broad. If I had taken enough time to analyse the question, a more specific research would be achieved. Having a wide area to cover led to an ambiguity of the results and a comprehensive discussion was hard to make since including every data was tedious. Secondly, the use of quantitative data did not give an entirely dependable reflection. As such, if given a second chance or in my future researchers, I would combine both qualitative and quantitative methods to provide a double-edged reflection of results. Also, drafting my memo, some aspect of time wastage were discovered as I only rushed to compose it hastily towards the deadline and that could have compromised the quality of my submission.
Any incoming student interested in my advice would benefit from my experience. First, I would advise someone to manage properly his/her time as piling a huge backlog has a direct impact on the result. Researching is a tedious process that requires proper understanding of the project undertaken to avoid being too broad, as such, anyone conducting research should gather sufficient information before commencement. Finally, it would be wise if one consulted widely from available libraries and more importantly create a close consultancy with the tutor. Since I would not like to repeat the same mistakes, I would also advise another student of the errors to avoid.
Reflection Notes
Federal disabilities rights were constituted to create an umbrella for people with various disabilities or related individuals. In the United States (US), people with disabilities are considered as those with either mental or physical incapacitation to perform major routines or those with impairment history ("Guide to Disability Rights Laws," n.d.). The laws were established to help physically challenged people to get employment, make travels using public means without difficulties, access public accommodations with ease and receive information from television and communicate using telephones without a struggle. Furthermore, the laws work to allow people with disabilities vote successfully, evade discriminations in public places, access education and healthcare facilities with enhanced simplicity amongst others. In totality, the rights reserved for the group were initiated to offer impaired individual equal access to necessary services and facilities without problems ("Guide to Disability Rights Laws," n.d.).
Even when the federal disabilities rights and civil rights act were engineered to reduce discrimination against certain groups, they differ in some ways. First, the former can be categorized under the latter ("Major Features of the Civil Rights Act of 1964," n.d.). Furthermore, while federal disabilities rights are purposed to cater for individuals with disabilities only, civil rights takes care of a broad discrimination spectrum on grounds of colour, religion, sex, and nationality. Additionally, federal disabilities rights are more observed within almost every move by the government while civil rights are less observed ("Major Features of the Civil Rights Act of 1964," n.d.). The federal laws have proved to fulfil their intended role as current government infrastructures are built with the non-discriminatory conditions. More members of the largest minority group (people with disabilities) are currently getting consideration in recruitment processes. More importantly is the satisfaction expressed by members of the group.
