Why do you think the IT presentation at the board meeting was scheduled as the last agenda item and given only 30 minutes?
As evidenced by the way the firm regards IT, matters to do with It are not considered to be of much significance to the board. They are therefore taken to be of less priority and only given a backseat when addressing company matters hence the little time allocated and scheduling it as the last item on the agenda.

The board of directors has the responsibility to ensure that IT gets and adequate budgetary allocation, IT is used to reach the company's goals and drive profitability, data is well managed and protected, compliance with IT laws and regulations; and emerging technologies are applied to further the business' interests.
Why do you think they seemed eager to delay forming the IT oversight committee until the next meeting?
The board members were eager to slow the formation of the oversight committee because they did not concur with its importance while many of them could have also been worried about being committed to being in the committee. They probably wanted to schedule the formation at a later date to allow for more time for people to make considerations.

How is Barton doing after almost three months of being IVK's CIO? What is your assessment of his performance?
Barton has done a great job as CEO. Within that time, he has managed to build teamwork and confidence in the IT department. He has also taken up the board on strategic IT for the firm and convinced them to adopt IT as part of their responsibility, which is remarkable.
