Research current program and implement health and wellness program
Introduction
Wellness Global proves to be one of the premier health and fitness centers that offer gym services by utilizing a chain of centers to ensure that they reach more clients. The company has a head office which primarily handles the appropriate office and paperwork which ultimately is devoid of a health and fitness program that caters for the employees at the head office. This paper will focus on creating a health and fitness program for the head office employees and report the same to the CEO.
Importance of health and fitness program to wellness global employees
Optimal health of the employees proves to be significantly influential to their overall performance and productivity. Owing to the work tendencies such as high volumes of work, long working hours, bad eating habits, lengthy meetings, and personal habits such as drinking, smoking, and neglect to personal wellbeing makes the employees contextually at risk of health and fatigue problems which exponentially affects their overall productivity (Ammendolia et al.,2016). Implementing a health and fitness program will improve the health of the employees, reduce absenteeism, improve job utilization, boost morale, and contribute to reducing risk to diseases.
Strategies and actions for a wellness program
For the wellness program to work efficiently, a methodical approach is necessary. Therefore, the steps are as follows:
Need identification
Here, the specific health and wellness needs of the employer and the employees is essential. Therefore, understanding the mindset, the general and specific challenges facing the program and the target audience needs to be outlined (Goetzel et al., 2014). The approach includes conducting survey and health risk evaluation such as insurance carrier and biometric screening.
Data analysis and plan creation.
At this stage, it is plausible to analyze the nature of the information gathered during risk evaluation to determine the specific elements that are workable for the plan such as motivation, incentives, workshops, and other relevant aspects.
Communication plan
Communication proves to be significantly paramount to any process and leads to an exponential success rate if planned and structured according to the required standards. This will include good communication framework and methods that will ensure that everyone is updated. Communication from the instructors to the employees and managers must be uptight and real-time as the program progresses (Goetzel et al., 2014). Employees and staff must keep the communication process up to date and ensure that every piece of vital information regarding the program is communicated efficiently and timely.
Incentives and motivation
Research indicates critically that motivation and provision of incentives plays a considerable role in ensuring that strategies and plans are carried out efficiently. Therefore, employees will have to be encouraged to participate in the program by providing the necessary motivation and incentives such as providing some overtime compensation, competitions that attract some rewards and many other aspects.
Value to the organization
Organizational success depends heavily on the working state and conditions of the employees. Therefore, providing a wellness program to the corporation will profoundly improve productivity, and create more interaction and cohesion among the employees as they engage in workouts and competitions. Moreover, employees will be motivated to work harder and smarter if they know that the company is concerned about their wellbeing (Ammendolia et al.,2016). Services and resources for implementing the health and wellness program
The program will require the following services for successful implementation
Health insurance carriers
Training programs
Motivational programs
Instructional programs
Resources will entail
An equipped staff gym
Gym instructors
Fitness gear and outfits such as relevant gym shoes and clothing
Manuals and instructional notices
Health professionals
Program evaluation
The program will be evaluated periodically to determine the progress and success of the facilities and resources in delivering the overall objective such as:
Periodical interviews with the staff
Weight and fitness evaluation of the staff
Competitions such as who has lost most weight over a given time frame.
Circumference measurements
Body fat, body strength, muscle endurance and aerobic fitness measurements.
Engaging partners, employees and relevant stakeholders
Stakeholders and important partners such as sponsors and facilitator must be actively engaged in the process to ensure that they approve and accept the program. They must be informed of all the steps and process taken for the program and appropriate intervention strategies such as financing, supporting the program, and motivating the staff and employees.
Conclusion
Health and wellness programs are vital elements to any organization and the employees. Every company must strive to ensure that the program is implemented since having a healthy and fit workforce has been seen to influence productivity and morale of the employees positively. Moreover, health and fitness programs are part of the inherent social activities that foster communication, positive interaction and engages all pertinent parties such as stakeholders, sponsors, employees, managers and other relevant people of interest to and with the company.
