What method of evangelism did you use and how did you start the conversation?
Servant evangelical approach
Servant evangelical approach includes the show of kindness and compassion to another person just as the gospel requires Christians to be compassionate (Halls, 2015). Our maid servant at home is called Sofia who comes from a family of traditional moderate Muslims.
Sofia has been with my family for the third year now, and we have always been kind to her as the Christian doctrines require us to treat others as we would like to be treated. Sofia noted our generosity and kindness in letting her see her siblings in a nearby town wherever she wanted. I had even agreed to pay for a clerical course in a nearby college. When Sofia approached me one afternoon as I was reading the Bible, she wanted to thank me and asked me whether I could read the Bible to her because she was not saved. I went ahead and proclaimed the holy gospel to her on the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and its significance.
What was the reaction (questions/comments/statements) of the unbeliever?
After reading the word of God from the book of Romans 3:23 which talks about Gods love Sofia wanted to know how she can be reconciled with God. Sofia was jubilant to know that Gods love is unconditional for her. She wanted to know what she could do to get her sins forgiven, and that’s when I told her the story of Jesus Christ Gods only son who came and died on the cross so that our sins could be forgiven.
How did you conclude the conversation to follow up?
At the end of the conversation, we prayed together and gave her my spare Bible so that she could teach herself the way of the Christ. I informed her about the holy spirit and how it will guide her on the course of her salvation. I invited Sofia finally to be joining the family on Sunday when we will be going to church which she agreed.
