Writing Research Papers
Research paper should characterise the issue of analysis and then make it sounds like more detailed conception of the issue (Day 15).
The research paper should consist of three main parts. Introduction with the description of the aim of the writing. The body of the paper, this is the issue itself, its development. Conclusion, the final comments of the explored issue (Day 15).
The information for the paper should be based on the information, taken from scientific works, articles from reputable journals, books, documentaries. These are the basis for the writer to make his/her own research (Day 17).
Research paper may have different subjects to explore. The subjects for academic research could be for example, pieces of art or global issues and processes.
It ought to be understood that the writer has own attitude and emotional closeness to the subject.
Presumably, the authoritative paper must have author’s arguments and statements which are proved by the writer’s thoughts with the help of sources. It should have interesting and, if possible unusual approach to the research of the main subject.
EXERCISE 1 (Questions 1 – 3)
Theories of Intelligence is not the example of research paper, most likely it is an essay.
Though, it is not an academic research paper it shares some its conventions. The paper consists of the main parts, the parts that the research paper should consist of. They are: introduction, the body of the paper, conclusion (Day 15). There is a type of research in this paper, but it is made according to the author’s personal experience and his thoughts. It is understood that the writer has the emotional closeness to the subject and his own attitude.
The college research paper is a genre that represents the new approach in the analysis of the subject. Every science and knowledge needs a development and that is why there are many genres of analysis. Research paper is a new level of analytic work. According to its main approaches, it helps to gain new, fresh viewpoint about the well-known subjects. It also helps to find new arguments to an issue, revealing new knowledge.

EXERCISE 3
STEP 1
BRAZILIAN RAINFORESTS, THE OLD AND NEW THREATS.
STEP 2
The chosen topic represents the problem, which is gradually become a catastrophe. This is the issue of concern not only for the people of Brazil, but for every nation. The disappearance of the rainforests will influence the environment and ecology in the whole eco-system of the world Macfarlane 29). There are many global problems that may be treated as more or less urgent ones. The ecological problems, changes of the environment and climate are the issues of great concern and number one priority (Zehner 15). The salvation of these problems should not be delayed, and some of them demand very active and pressing acts right now. The peculiarities of some ecological issues are in the fact, that they must not be treated only by the local people (Zehner 15). Sometimes they are just not capable to do it, sometimes their governments don’t have the desire or will to solve them, and international pressure is needed. The Brazilian Rainforests and their annihilation is the problem of that kind. If the urgent measures are not taken, the aftermaths will really be disastrous (Zehner 21).
STEP 3
According to the National Research Institute of Brazil, the amount of destruction of the forests increases approximately two times every year (Preston 23). The Forest Code of Brazil leaves the wide range of the forests in this country without the protection of the state (Preston 22). This is the major problem and World Wildlife Fund appealed to the representatives of every nation to sign up the petition. This document was addressed to the President of Brazil who can impose a ban on the code, but it was not done (Macfarlane 32). The rainforests give the whole world a lot of vital advantages. 20% of our oxygen comes from the forests alone and almost 30% of world’s fresh water comes from the Amazon basin (Macfarlane 32). The Brazilian Rainforests annihilation leads to the inevitable changing of the climate and disappearance of many species of flora and fauna. The indigenous people are losing their lands and the situation is getting worth. The new legislation works in favour of the people who profit from the destruction of the forests (Macfarlane 31). There are a lot of world organizations, working in Brazil to protect the rainforests. Among them: World Wildlife Fund, Greenpeace, Save the Amazon Rainforest Organization, Amazon Conservation Team, Coordinator of Indigenous Organizations of the Amazon River Basin (Macfarlane 42).

Will the coming Olympic Games in Brazil make negative or positive impact on the situation or will they make no impact at all?
Is the situation with Brazilian Rainforests unique or is it similar to some other places in the world?
