Introduction
I strongly believe that in order to achieve, one has to have certain qualities and qualifications. This can be achieved if the person is determined to make their dream come true. Talking of dreams, mine is to become an Industry Engineer as I have a passion for it. This is basically what I would like to study once I join the university. Being that I studied in a science oriented school, Putnam Science Academy, it has given the urge to become an Industry Engineer. Math and Physics are my favorite subjects and to prove this I have some awards on the subjects. However I also believe that one has to be involved in other things so as to achieve. Exhausting oneself with only one thing is not healthy at all (Rao 78).
Extracurricular activities are very essential for any student aspiring to achieve. I am involved in both sports and clubs so as to carefully utilize my free time. These two are linked in that with me being in the soccer team meant that I was also in the soccer club. More over I was also enrolled in basketball, chess and table tennis sports/clubs. To add to this I furthermore have a place in Science Olympiad Physics though this is mainly a club not associated with any physical activities. Being active is good because I know that sometimes my career will be depressing and I will need something to keep my mind off the work.
Charity is one thing that I like being associated with. I like to offer services or rather to give back to the community. This inspiration got me to join the Salvation Army; collecting of money for Haiti as well as Africa both junior and senior years. More over I have also participated in collecting money to build a game room for our school, dorm cleaning, voluntarily working at the school canteen and lastly acting as a tour guide to visitors who come to Bursa for travelling. I trust and believe that one has to be diverse and participate in all activities which one may. This quality would enable me as a person to be able to pursue my career more strongly and confidently because of a focused and active mind (Ferd 56).
In addition to what I have mentioned earlier I was an intern as a Chemistry Laboratory Assistant. This gave me much experience and information on the career that I want to pursue. I identified myself with some of the things which I might come across while studying industrial engineering. I know that whatever I learnt while being an intern as a laboratory assistant will be of help in supporting me achieve my goals in the future. I have gotten awards in certain categories like in Science Physics Olympiad where I acquired 4th place. This I believe will also assist me in Industry Engineering thus the more the urge I get to pursue it.
The fact that I am an active and focused person means that I am goal oriented. My aim is to become an Industry Engineer and I know that I am going to be successful. I know that it is important for one to be involved in other things apart from the main objective. With that in mind I am sure that I will get what I want. Participation in extracurricular activities is important in that it helps relax one’s mind. My participation in these will definitely support and push me towards pursuing my career.
