Most people aspire to develop a career in different disciplines working in organizations managing other people or being managed. I have always aspired to manage people. My career aspiration is to work for multi-national organizations as a human resource management specialist developing solutions that will ensure effective human resource management. A degree specializing in Human Resource Management will boost my marketability as a Human Resource professional by enabling me to acquire the relevant knowledge and professional skills that employers look for in the marketplace. I believe specializing in Human Resource Management at Kelley Business School will enable acquire an all-inclusive insight in human resource management from both a practical and theoretical background that will be a head start in a successful career in human resource management.
In my varied professional experience, I have been introduced to various functions of human resources that have increased my interest studying human resource management. Currently, I am an International Student Ambassador at the Office of International Affairs. I was also an administrative assistant at the National Guard Health Affairs in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Besides administrative work, I was involved in training new employees; composing and editing correspondence and memoranda; and scheduling and coordinating interviews, appointments and events. During this time I developed soft skills, ability to work under pressure, and adaptive skills. I have an Associate Diploma from the Institute of Public Administration in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The diploma gave me insight on both theoretical and practical perspective of human resource functions. Besides, I have completed many courses that are related to human resource. Some of the course include; Executive Secretary Management Skills Course at King Abdul-Aziz Hospital in 2008 and a Secretarial Management Course at Imam Abdurrahman Bin Faisal in 2009.
When I was researching on which best suits my interest, I realized specializing in Human Resource Management at Kelley Business School not only suits my interest but also covers topics in Human Resource Management that are relate to duties that I performed. I worked in two hospitals in Saudi Arabia where I was involved with human resource related issues such as ensuring compliance with labor laws, organizational planning, drafting employment contracts and evaluating human resource management programs. Therefore, I will have a chance to explore the things I did well and those that I should have improved. Besides, I will be able to gain knowledge in human resource topics that I am not conversant with such as work design, change management, and strategic decision making in human resource management.
