Personal Statement On Reasons For Pursuing A Career In Public Relations

Nowadays information is considered to be the most valuable possession – as a powerful means of influence on people it can actually rule the humanity and induce many changes in the world.
All kinds of media contribute to the formation of certain images in people’s minds that leads to either global development or global setback. As a representative of those individuals who would like to have at least minor influence on what is going on in the world, I decided to participate in the process of gaining and expansion of information – I believe that it would endue me with favorable power over masses and, most importantly, let me realize my contribution to the development of mankind.
Generally speaking, people absorb everything they are given by those who are in PR and journalism. Thus, my main goal at these fields is making sure that I provide ‘informational consumers’ with the most objective pieces of information I can. On the contrary, sometimes it is crucial to impose certain images and way of thinking in order to reach good results at promoting products and services, especially in PR. I feel confident about operating with information in such a way that it does not harm anyone but only brings the best for people, at the same time gaining the results I need.
They say ‘Money makes the world go round’. However, I would correct it to ‘Information makes the world go round’, because these days the latter is much more valuable than money. It is very important that information gets to the hands of ‘right’ people who would use it properly and never misuse for their own advantages. My strong interest in the sphere of PR and journalism is based on my greatest desire to get into people’s minds and change them for better with the help of words and my messages.
