Introduction
This examines how a photographer Todd walker (1917-1998) used to take photographs before the start of computers in digital world .It further examines how he started to apply computer in his photographic work so as to digitalize the images and other photographic work. This is examined across three decades opt the Todd walker’s work. The use of technology in digital photography is important as the photographs are visualize in three dimensional outlook .When we see Todd walker’s photograph can visualize what it means, how it was taken and the distance the photograph was taken.
The use of computers in digital photography is very important as it allows a photographer to get a true picture of the image and zoom the image to suit customer’s needs and also the need for clarity. Todd walker’s image gives the importance of using computer in digital photography. In the image we can clearly visualize the design of the image, the colour of the image and the distant the image was taken whether it was near to the photographer or away from the photographer. The example of Todd walker’s image shows that the image was taken when the photographer was near to the object. This gives us a clear meaning of the photograph, for example, the image given by Todd Walker gives us a clear indication that when digital computers are use in the field of photography, the image is clearly visualized (Walker 12).
The image of Todd walker for example in the use of digital computers brings out the differences between the analogue and digital photography. When the digital computer is used the photograph brings all the colors of the object unlike when the photographing is done using an analogue camera. In this john walker’s image we can clearly see different colors ranging from red, yellow, black and white colors. These colours bring the advantage of using the digital computers as the objects characteristics are clearly visualized. This image odd Todd walker gives clear comparison of his early work from 1970s, 1980s and 1990s as per his records. It also gives clear roles of an artist in technology, that’s take part in creativity and innovation of the technology. As part of technology, artists expected to modify the technology to suit the current world. As the technology changes the artist should change the way of presenting his work expected by the current changes in technology. Techno logy changes every now and then and the photography as part of technology is also expected to change.
At first I could not tell what exactly the drawing was, because what I could see is just but some colorful screen display with more reddish parches and some white part almost to the right corner. However, the text on the corner of the picture which identified the image as a creative photography reminded me of the CCP packet and then the creative artistic work. Compression Control Protocol (CCP) representation of images depicts the same modification that Todd Walker uses to compress his photograph. The Frame Modification of the image is CCP packet application which utilizes the basic modification negotiated during the LEP (Link Establishment Phase) of the CCP packet modification. The frame of the photo is an encapsulation of exactly one CCP packet in the PPP information field. The picture indicates the type hex 80FD (Busch 28). With this knowledge I realized that the photo is a computer based compressed photograph.
The printing reminds me of the history of photography in relation to Todd Walker. It has been a life time experience to encounter the history of photography since it early years before cameras were introduced and the only way to writing was drawing. The photographic industry has by then advanced through technology and currently we can use Photoshop to edit our pictures as far as we want. Todd walker started photography at around 1930 and created some book writing photolithography. The photo described is one of his first software applications for image editing. The current 3-D images are as a result of the CCP imaging that Todd emphasized in his representation of the image anticipating for digital (Busch 98).
The image to my experience with cartography represents a technical work of digital image editing that uses software that presents a previous image as inverted, blurred and obscured image of the original representation. The image is more expressive than being detailed and represents less about the reality (Busch 50). A kin examination of the image shows a cloudy white mass with red blue parches originating from upward. This from my experience with cartography depicts that the image is inverted and thus the bottom line of the image is the upper side where the mass originates from. The upper side is the bottom side which the hole like formation ends towards the lower center. The right side of the image is the current left where the valley like representation originates. The valley is formed as the stripes from the top and the bottom meet. The stripes meet in such a way that they are stretched to the left. This thus shows that the valley like appearance flows from the center towards the outer left side of the image.
The coloration of the image exhibits some contrast ranging from 40 to 50%. The image exhibits a contrast of over 50 % but below 80%. The image is thus a digital representation of an image edited and displayed using software. The work of Todd Walker is a representation of the work of art using digital media. Since Todd Walker has been a photographer before the introduction of software and programming, he presents this image as a message to his audience that the work of art will always be represented no matter dynamic the world is. From this photographic representation I can say that Todd Walker had a strong passion for art and has been trying so much to represent his work.
Embracing the technology in the field of photography is very important as it allows a photographer to present the photograph in three dimensions, either in rear view front view and even the aerial view. When such objects are presented in such a manner, all the characteristics of the image are clearly visualized. The original color, size and design of the object are clearly shown and this can be used to bring clear judgments as the image can easily be interpreted and its meaning clearly move from understood. Photographers are strongly advised to move from analogue to digital as this improve their their businesses as they receive high demand from those who engage in commercial advertisements and even from other groups who might be in need of the digitalized photographs for specific purposes for example the politicians, college students and even the government offices. Embracing of digital technology in photography will move this field into the next level.
