I consider the beach as the place where I can find perfect contentment. Aside from the fact that I feel close to nature, seeing the rolling waves as they reach the shore gives my heart peace and tranquility. Every summer, I will find time to visit the beach because it is the time that I am able to meditate and reflect on my life, what I want to become and how to achieve these goals. Just be sitting on the shore and looking at sunset gives me a deeper understanding of nature and emotional healing. Being away from the civilization means turning away from chaos and fast-pace life gives me time to re-evaluate myself. It is a time to reflect on my relationship with my family, friends and loved ones and how to strengthen my connection with them. To feel one with nature gives me a spiritual satisfaction that no amount of money can buy. I feel complete every time I go to the beach because I there is a sense of gratification by enjoying the wonders of nature. The gleaming white sand, the crisp blue waters and the bright yellow sun is enough to make you a whole person. Being close to nature means a moment with God. It is one of life’s simple pleasures because it enriches my spirituality.
The beach is a place where we rediscover out own wisdom (Baskin 5). Walking along the sand and seeing the sun sparkling on the water gives one an invigorating feeling to be alive. This is the personal effect that the beach brings to me. It gives me the chance to hear the truths my own heart whispers to the questions that are left unanswered in my life. As I close my eyes and meditate in this beautiful place I feel the grace seep in, just like the high tide that is slowly moving up the shore (Baskin 5). The gift of the tides is to help me to hold on to my faith despite the rise and fall that I may encounter in my life. The beach reminds me to become a child again by playing with sand, swimming in the water and bob over the waves. The streak of delight gives me the feeling of pleasure and satisfaction for all the things that I have. Life is like the waves on the beach which reminds me to just go with flow. Learning to accept challenges and failures in life will make me a better person in the end. Dancing with the waves gives me a reason to be happy. This is one of the important lessons I take home with me after a trip to the beach is that life has to be enjoyed. Although there may be problems that come along the way, these should not be a reason to give up on one’s dreams. There is always “sunshine after the rain” is a message that should bring us hope and courage to fight for what we believe in. For me the beach is a place which makes me whole again after being broken. It rekindles the fire in my heart never to stop believing that I can surpass all challenges that life may bring. A moment spent in the beach is a time for healing with broken relationships with my family, friends and loved ones and learning how to forgive. Being one with nature is the greatest spiritual satisfaction and I consider the essence of my being.
