POLC model and its use in the managerial process
The success or a failure of a business venture depends on the management practices implemented in the enterprise. POLC model of management is the most commonly used model for management and strategic planning of an enterprise and management. POLC stands for Planning, Organizing, Leading and Controlling the applications applied in the process of management.
In the planning stage, establishment of objectives and mission statements is done. Objectives help in the managerial levels to show that the right direction is being followed. Strategies are also defined in this stage as well as evaluation and reviewing of the specified process applications.
The organizing stage involves the determination of a way in which business will conduct its operations. At this stage, identification of tasks to be done as well as assigning of the same is done. Responsibilities are designated to the relevant bodies. In organization, what matters is what an actor can be given in order to get the desired output. Therefore input mix is determined at this stage.
Human resource is an important factor in every enterprise. In the leading stage, workers must have a clear direction with regard to the enterprise implementation. The management should set examples in the process. In this case example should be set and with proper communication harmony in the implementation of the enterprise.
Finally the control process involves accessing and monitoring of the applications put in the business enterprise. Comparison of the applied standards with these standards should be done. Variants are identified as well as remedial actions taken to deal with the arisen variants.
POLC model is indeed a very important aspect in management of any enterprise in question. It brings out the management procedures in detail. Expounding more on the application processes as well as control applications on the enterprise. It is a frame work through which management can be established.
