Introduction
Political deviance is the essence where those in power are undertaking their own issues in order to have personal gratification. This is the situation where the people who have been elected to lead in the various political offices do disregard the strive to enhance the lives of those who have been elected into office. Personal interests are the leading goals when leaders get power (Meir, 2009).
Cause and effect
The cause of political deviance is because of the opportunities which leaders get when they get political positions. It is believed that when an individual holds a political office, they have political milage and advantages over those who do not. They will be able to access government contracts which are lucrative. They will be able to overcome he hurdles that ordinary people face when they are undertaking their businesses. The cause of political deviance is because of this fact that there are many opportunities that will be met when people get an office. Politicians have, therefore, sought these positions for their own good and not for the good of the general public.
Different points of view
With political deviance, there are different points of view. It has been argued that the lofty government contracts are meant for politicians. This is not the case. It is the person who has the capability to work on the contract tat should be considered. Political deviance could not have risen if those assigning government contracts could have been fair. Politicians can be awarded the contracts on the basis of merit. If they qualify for the contracts, they can go ahead and work on them.
There was basic and fundamental protection of personal rights. The electoral college delegation was designed in such a way that the voice of the people could not be heard. This ensured that the people who were in power remained in power. The voice of the people was suppressed by all means so that the status quo remained in power.
Another example is that, for a long time, it is clear that those people in power tend to have wealthier while those without power are poor. Wealth seems to be a preserve of the powerful in the society. This is not the normal case because power is meant to enhance the good and the development of the whole country.
Statistical support
There has been a lot of lawsuits to oust politicians who have not complied with their duties. There has been a lot of lawsuits and damages to remove those in political deviance. In America, there has been 25 lawsuits to oust congressmen who have decided to go against the will of the people. This is a common trend that is being experienced in many countries. Approximately 83% of countries have leaders who practice political deviance (Hirt, 2008).
Solution of the problem
Political deviance can be corrected by bringing changes to organizational structures and procedures. There should be a fair play in all sectors of the economy. This will enable everyone to create wealth no matter their position. This way, there will be no rush to political offices. There should be fairness to all individuals who are seeking power. The opportunities should be available to all and awarded basing on merit. Corruption is the root cause of this and should be corrected so that all those who qualify should get the chances.
