The article highlights the important role that Christianity plays in daily activities. This is in shaping of political ideals and mentalities. The right to belong and associate to any religion has formed a heavy backdrop in the articulation of ideas in society (Dionne 206-208). This is one of the rights that shape the thinking of Evangelical Protestants in America. Their agitation can be traced way back to the 1940’s which paved the way for Jimmy Carter’s administration in the future. The article traces the steps that Evangelical Protestantism has achieved in its wake of political agitation. It is clear that religion has helped in the eradication of slavery and retention of societal norms and values. The creation, organization, management of the NCR marshaled the support of all citizens in America (Dionne 211). Evangelical Protestants have encountered numerous challenges to achieve what they have achieved today. Their ministers encourage them to ensure that they live a life away from secular politics and involvement. However, many choose to enjoy religion and relate it to aspects of leadership that politicians offer citizens in their state. This is one strategy of ensuring that the politicians, legislation, finances and societal norms are in line with religious stipulations.
The presentation of the Evangelical Protestants is equated to the coming out of homosexuals in society. This is because of the stringent movement that they have created all over the world (Dionne 213). The political action plan created by the Evangelicals aimed to ensure that they do not stray far away from their religious stipulations. In conclusion, the emerging leaders acknowledge the role and guidance created by the Christian Right. Many leaders follow this guidance in the formation of legislation, drafting of policies and the articulation of worldwide agenda. The author concludes the article by stating that it would not have been entirely possible for the transformation of society, institutions, processes and public policies if it were not for Protestant Mobilization (Dionne 244).
