Article II of US Constitution makes the President responsible for the execution as well as enforcement of the laws created by Congress. The President being both the head of the state as well as the head of the government possesses a special power to appoint several persons in order to aid him running the government and making the laws for the nation. These people together add up to President's Cabinet. It is the responsibility of the member of cabinet to aid and advise president on all important matters. These members are the ones who lead various government departments especially the executive branch. . There are mainly Fifteen executive departments such as Department of Agriculture, Department of Commerce, Department of Defence, Department of Education, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services and so on, which is each led by a member of President's Cabinet appointed by the President himself in order to carry out the administration of the federal government .It is mandatory for the member to receive the consent of Congress before assuming the office. Various other executive agencies such as Environmental Protection Agency and the CIA, too joins the executives, although their head not being a part of the Cabinet, but still is under President ‘s full authority.
Moreover, the Executive Office of the President (EOP) created in 1939 stands as other important machinery to aid and advice the President in day to day affairs. The EOP has the tasks of acting as a link between the President and the American people by delivering President’s message to the people. It even bears the responsibility of to promoting the country’s trade interests abroad. . The EOP comprises of the immediate staff to the President even including his closest advisers. Although it is compulsory for some members of EPO to have Senate’s confirmation such as the Director of the Office of Management and Budget, many are appointed on the discretion of the President.
