Security is a term that has its origins in the Latin language because the term is derived from the Latin words Sacurus and securitas, the meaning of which is “feeling no care or apprehension, the safeguarding of (the interests of) a state, organization, or persons; safe.” There are four intertwining aspects have developed in making people, enterprises, organizations, and society together safeguarding the following:
Measures related to physical security
Tactics and means the help safeguard the general public
Development of technology as well as personnel who assist in private security, and lastly
Efforts by both individuals and the society as a whole in protecting and maintaining the social order.
It is a fact that needs to be acknowledged that societies or civilizations would not ever have evolved without security. Without the endurance of security, future progress would surely get endangered. This is due to the uncertainty of danger or loss or any kind of harm, either to individuals or to the society. Security is not just a human requirement, but can be referred to as the fundamental right of every human being in this world. Human society, since the ancient times, had been incessantly striving to attain security with the help of reciprocal relations between the public sector and the private sector, and also through the efforts of individuals to a considerable extent. Risks are something that are not constant and which keep changing because of the evolution of new situations or scenarios, processes and expertise; and this results in security also changing, with response to such development. Ultimately, it is pertinent to note that a safe society is highly reliant upon the application of various forms of resources like, individual resources, militia, law enforcement techniques, and situational techniques among others.
