Motivating Learners
I will employ the use of the ARCS model which will aid me in sustaining the motivation in the students. It will also help in reducing any distraction among the students. In the case that I may feel that I am losing their attention I may introduce a small exercise to make them concentrate or employ the use of P.E( physical Education) exercises such as stretching or a star bust jump that will relieve them of any drowsiness.
Informing the Learners of the objectives.
In the beginning, I will inform the learners of what they are supposed to have understood by the end of the lesson. This will enable them to identify the key areas that they need to pay attention to,
Prerequisite skills
The students should have acquired time management skills through attending the prerequisite class before taking mine. They should have researched on the various topics beforehandin order to have an idea of what we will be learning and it will enable them to understand better.
Presentation of the Content
I will first use the deductive method which involves me giving the learners hints on the subject matter and asking them to infer the rest. This method stimulates the learners’ creativity and involves them in the teaching process thus helping them understand better. However, this method is not always successful as the students may be unable to infer the required information. When this happens I will use the inductive method whereby I will give a step by step explanation of the subject matter to the students. This method makes it easy for the students to understand since I explain everything to them in a straight forward manner.
Learner participation (practice and feedback)
It is important for learners to be part of the learning process as they are able to understand better. It is achieved by asking learners questions during the lesson also encouraging them to ask me any questions in problematic areas. One may also ask a learner to explain a point to the rest of the class.
Assessment
This will be a way of finding out if the students have understood the lessons taught. I will assess the students by giving them tests, assignments on the different types of essays taught. Through marking the tests I will be able to identify the problematic areas and address them.
Follow-throw activities
After marking the tests I will note the weak students and coach them personally or ask them to come for extra lessons.
