Even though slavery significantly limited the ability of Africans Americans to exercise their cultural traditions, a values, beliefs and beliefs subsisted and with time have fused rudiments of European American philosophy. African American have been subjected to various instances of racial prejudice on the basis of their culture. In fact, there are certain facades of African American culture, which have emerged and been made protuberant as a result of slavery. These façades include their dressing codes and language.
Cohorts of hardships levied on the African American society shaped unique language patterns. The slave masters always intentionally mixed individuals who spoke dissimilar African languages to dishearten communication in any other language apart from English. Together with the embargos on education, this resulted in the advancements of pidgins, a simplified mixture of various languages which the speakers of these diverse languages could use to communicate. These pidgins has saw the emergence of Slang as a language amongst the African American. Slang as a Vernacular English of African American community, is a type variety; ethnolect, sociolect and dialect, of the American English language which is closely associated with the African American speech.
Even though African American Vernacular English(AAVE) is scholarly regarded as a genuine dialect due to its logical structure, a good number of Caucasians and other native Americans, lowly regard it; stating that it is an outcome of poor command of American English. As a result, African American children have been subjected to racial-based prejudices, have been isolated since they speak AAVE. In fact, on most occasions, African American children have had to undergo numerous difficulties in with standardized testing and even, after school because of the use of slang.
African American started in slavery in a bid to sustain an economic system which they did not have a role to play. Since they were considered to be immigrants, they could not take part in voting, holding public offices, serving as jurors or owning properties. Nevertheless, the African American culture advanced independent of the American culture because they wanted to practice their own traditions. However, with the persistent racial segregation, the African American has been a subject of discrimination. African Americans are stereotyped for their traditions and dressing codes. Their way of dressing has been subject to debate in a number of occasions; it is argued that dress codes of the African American is very anchored to the decrees of the West perhaps the fault to the gigantism of the production contrivance and the general ambitions of non-African American designers who have annexed to themselves the veracious deeds of dressing individuals including the African Americans; rendering them as objects who can be shaped at will. In fact whenever, they dress themselves, they are negatively perceived.
In conclusion, African Americans have been victims of racial prejudice. They have been displaced as a result of the reaction by the White American community, to what they perceive as African American Culture invasion. These reactions hade creatively attempted to recreate a bad perception of the African American community by the amalgamation of bits and pieces. This has violently rejected the African American culture, however, the culture still attempts to collect fragments and reinvent itself. Depending the levels of cultures, the African American Culture has been perceived to Africanize everything which is absorbed.
