Prenatal and postpartum scenario
6 months pregnant woman
The first note is to understand that both pregnancy period and maternity are greatly influence by the psychological state of the individual. These dynamic processes must be approach with a good state of mind and psychological state. This is because of the various conditions or states that could ensue. Relationship with friends and family, lifestyle and coping strategy all influence the experience. The consideration is to focus on the spirit, body, and soul.
The importance of this is piece of notes is that it will guide you positively towards coping with those changes that are associated with the pregnancy condition and the future developmental effects (Trotter, Bogat, & Levendosky, 2004). This is the state where you become prepared for the motherhood.
Daily exercises
Daily activities, which include daily light physical exercises, will contribute greatly to enhanced psychological state. Exercise, which could help, might include early morning light trekking on the street, prevention of prolonged sitting in a single place, and engaging in a light housekeeping activities. These light activities help both the physical and mental state of the pregnant women because of enhanced body activities that help in enhanced blood circulation to all parts of the body.
Social support
The pregnant woman must also engage in daily activities that could help enhanced social support. Such activities involve talking and gist with family members. Reduce any form of isolation and play more with husband or children. The goal of this is to reduce any form of depression or anxiety that might be related to that pregnancy stage or delivery period.
Entertainments
Several good books out there could help in building up a great mental state at such pregnancy state. Reading such good books divert the woman’s attention to the story and relieve any form of associated tension or anxiety. Watching good movies also help to make the individual feel comfortable and relaxed. Those movies could help her think positively and this positive thought has a great impact on the mental state.
Postpartum women
This stage is associated with several psychological conditions or derangement, which could be because of the need to care for the infants, and returning to the previous body shape. Psychological conditions such as depression could result in a several consequences in postpartum women. This will affect the infant’s growth and development. The issue could result from coping with the demands of the care for the baby. It could be the challenge of feeding, provision of diapers or cleaning and bathing for the child. Their coping strategies with such kind of mental state could result in the mother extending the anger to the child. In this kind of situation, one important activity that could help is to find the corporation of the father or any other family member that could help in caring for the child (Killen, 2005).
Reduce stress
Reducing stressful situations and activities is an important psychological therapy for postpartum depressive disorders. Since caring for a child could be a form of a stress initiator when there are no enough support from relatives, there is a need to plan to reduce every other stressor that could actually help reducing the incidence of transfer of depressive complication to the infants. When there are other people that can assist the individual, taking a short break will be a very good idea to help avoid stressors (APA, 2011).
Entertainments
Taking a time out to read good books, listen to music and watching of movies will all help to reduce the depressive mental state or any other psychological issues initiated by the stress. These daily activities create relaxed mental states that allow quick return to important activities of caring for the infant. Those activities allow the postpartum woman to have a true perception of other aspect of life and results in a diversion of attention. The consequence of that is the creation of different thought from that of caring for the child hence a relaxed state of mind.
Exercises/meditation
These could involve practicing of regular daily activities, yoga and meditation and short daily walking around. The exercises and meditations will help keep their body fit hence helping in quick return to the normal body and mental state. Exercises could also help relax the tension that might be associated with the care for the new infant and coping with the developmental changes that tend to occur with the infant.
Conclusion
All these daily activities that has been outlined for both prenatal and postpartum states are very important for all ladies in such situation to be able to cope with stress and depression that could be associated with the states. This will have both positive effects on both the mother and the growing infant.
