There are many large corporations in the world that dominate the international market. Some of the integrated companies include Toshiba, Jeep, Samsung, Nike and Apple. These corporations have contributed a lot to the international market since they have enhanced business development in the global environment. There have been various changes in the economic, social, market and environmental changes in the global markets (Yasu 2009). These companies have found various ways of adapting to these changes. Although they are situated in different geographical locations, they have been able to make connections among themselves to promote business activities. It is very important to analyze each of these companies in terms of products and services and their capability to adapt to the changes in the global business environment.
Toshiba Corporation is an international organization whose full name means Tokyo Shibaura Electronics Company. The headquarters of this corporation is situated in Tokyo, Japan. This corporation deals with the production of electronic goods which involve computer systems as well as communication systems (Odagiri 2006). The products offered by this corporation include refrigerators, power machines, music systems, electronic products, elevators, escalators and computers. The company also offers services such as computer repairs as well as installation.
Nike Corporation is a multinational company that was founded in 1964. Its headquarters is in Washington in the United States of America. This corporation operates in the accessories industry. The products offered by this company are mainly footwear. Many people argue that it is one of the best producers of shoes that are used by athletes in the world. In addition to this, it also produces apparel.
Samsung Corporation is a multinational company that was founded in 1938. The headquarters of this corporation is situated in the Samsung Town of South Korea. This company produces products such as consumer electronics as well as chemicals. It mostly produces computers and mobile phones. It offers services such as construction, financial and telecommunication services. This corporation is large since it is a conglomerate institution.
Apple Corporation is a multinational company that is situated in the United States of America. It was founded in 1976. The products offered by this company include personal computers, computer hard wares, electronics, iPods and phones. The services offered by this corporation include digital distribution and installation of computer software (Yasu 2009). Its headquarters is in Apple Campus, California. Jeep Corporation is an automobile company that was founded in 1941. This company’s headquarters is in Ohio, United States of America. This company deals with the production of motor vehicles and spare parts. It is also involved in the production of Sport vehicles. It also offers repair and maintenance services to its customers.
Synergy
Synergy among these companies has enabled them to acquire certain benefits. One example of synergy is where one division of Toshiba Corporation engaged in a partnership with a similar division of Samsung electronics (ODD division). Another example is where a component of Toshiba Mobile Displays Company had the intentions of merging with Sony Mobile Display Corporation. Synergy has helped these companies to widen their customer base as well as increase their sales.
Adaptation to economic changes
The most prevalent economic change in the global business environment is the rising inflation. This has been attributed to the general price increase of commodities, leading to an increase in the price of supplies. Samsung has adapted to the increased inflation by adapting to relatively cheaper production methods. Apple Corporation has responded to this by terminating their contracts with suppliers who do not comply with their new policies. Jeep and Toshiba have countered inflation by searching for cheaper sources of supplies without compromising the quality of goods produced. Nike Corporation has engaged in recycling the already used materials to safe on the cost of production (Martin 2011). All these companies have also strived to achieve economies of scale in production by producing many goods simultaneously using the same lines of production.
Adaptation to market changes
The global market has been characterized by increasing competition in the international market. There has been increase in competition in the international market due to the emergence of new energetic firms that strive to be competitive in the global business environment. All these companies have been able to gain competitive advantage by differentiating their products. Another advantage that these companies have is that they have a wide variety of goods and services that circulate in the international market (Yasu 2009). The high quality products offered by these companies also outmatch their competitors. Differentiation, high quality products and wide variety of goods and services are some of the reasons why these companies remain competitive in the global market even after the increase in competition.
Sources for Revenue Growth and Increase in Profitability
The increased revenue growth for Samsung and Nike Corporation can be explained by their strong advertisement capability. These corporations have been able to attract global customers by way of advertising through sign posts, televisions, magazines, internet and super sport (William 2012). Toshiba and Jeep Corporations have gained revenue growth due to increased demand for their goods and services. Nike has been having loyal customers who have helped maintain the revenue of this corporation. All these companies have excellent marketing strategies that have enabled them to realize increased profitability.
Environmental Practices
The five companies have tried a lot to act in compliance with environmental ethics. These companies have made enormous contributions towards environmental conservation. Apple Corporation has helped to conserve the environment by eliminating products that are not recyclable. Samsung has also supported programs that help to conserve the environment. Toshiba Corporation has engaged into partnership with some universities with an intention to carry out research regarding the conservation of the environment (Martin 2011). Nike has also being involved in the recycling of materials and the use of environmental friendly materials in production. Jeep Corporation has recycled used metals to produce automobiles.
How international Trade Has Affected These Companies
International trade has created an impact on this organization. The journal of international business studies clearly outlines how international trade has affected various companies. This article outlines that international trade enables firms to expand their businesses as well as to gain access to more customers. Firstly, it has enabled these companies to be known by more people in the international business environment. International market has brought together various people from diverse backgrounds. The interaction of many cultural groups has made some people to encounter the customers of these companies. As a result of this, these people have been introduced to the products offered by these companies, leading to an increase in the number of customers.
International market has also enabled these companies to expand their production in order to meet the rising demand for goods and services (Williams 2012). Due to the increase in the number of customers in the world, they have been forced to increase their level of productivity to ensure that all its customers get the required products at the shortest time possible. International trade has also enabled them to gain access to more suppliers in the global business environment. This has enabled them to buy goods from more suppliers at relatively cheaper prices.
In conclusion, these Corporations have contributed positively to the social, political and economic environment. One reason for this is that they have provided employment to many people who were jobless. They have also contributed to the economic development of various countries through contributions in the form of corporate taxes. The motive to conserve the environment has shown that these companies have complied with the environmental ethics governing the global business environment. Finally, the increased operations of Toshiba, Jeep, Apple, Samsung and Nike Corporations show that these companies are still striving to maintain their positions as one of the largest multinational corporations in the world.
