As an aspiring IT consultant, I have studied the weak links within the Medicaid system, and I have come up with the conclusion that one of the most frustrating things about Medicaid is the slow processes involved. In my opinion, I believe that the citizens of the United States who have subscribed into this health program deserve the best from the program. My knowledge in computer science has made it easy for me to come up with a solution which I think will serve to benefit both the government, healthcare providers and the citizens of this great country. As a healthcare provider, I believe this organization will benefit a lot from the ideas that I have gathered and which I believe will be a great boost to the system, which is currently facing a lot of resistance.
The use of IT in the Medicaid program has not been exploited, as it should be. I believe there are several areas that remain unexploited. The slow pace of the Medicaid program, which keeps patients waiting for long periods before getting medication, is a subject of concern to me. I believe the system can be boosted through an input of heavy and efficient technology, which fastens the processes that patients have to go through before getting access to the health facilities they need. I have come up with a variety of ways through which technology can be improved and implemented into the system to improve the system and make it more attractive to the citizens. The following ways will help to improve the system;
A software upgrade which will ensure that patients can access their doctors without necessarily coming to this or pother healthcare providers. This upgrade will reduce congestion in healthcare facilities as well as save time for most patients who can access doctors from their homes.
Developing a system test plan. A software upgrade has to be followed by a test on the upgraded software to make sure that it works and that it is in line with what the organization aims at achieving. A software test exposes the weaknesses within the software as well as the strengths of the software. It provides a guide towards what can be done to improve the software and make it convenient to the organization and the
Conduct an online survey on what the beneficiaries of Medicaid think about the software upgrade and the features they would like to be added to the software upgrade.
The management of this healthcare provider must work together with the IT department to ensure that the latter adheres to the policies of the organization both at the departmental and at the corporate level.
