Critique
The process recording is not detailed enough. This is because although the process recording covers all the discussed scenarios effectively, there is little coverage of the boy’s relationship with the family. It is important that the process recording finds out about the boy’s social development in an all-round manner. The manner in which the process covered the issue on the child’s relationship with peers is plausible. However, there is little mentioned on the boy’s relationship with his family in the process recording. Mr. T revealed so little to me about the boy’s relationship with his family. Mr. T informed me that a couple of issues were discussed during a court hearing to determine the boy’s custody. Top on the issues that the court deliberated upon was the boy’s father’s visitation rights. Boy X seems not to be excited about his father.
Family relationship is one fundamental issue in ones` life. As such, at any given time, one should be able to relate well with his or her family members. As such, the process recording should have dealt more time in verifying the actual relationship between Boy X and his family members. The author does not tell us the real issues and what really goes on between Boy X and his family members. As such, the process can be, therefore, criticized as being shallow since it does not focus on fundamental issues such as family relationships.
The process recording can also be criticized on the grounds that it is does not adequately reveal everything about Boy X. From the process, one cannot tell whether Boy X is healthy or not. We are only informed of the fact that Tb tests were conducted on him. Nevertheless, we are not informed of the results of these tests. This makes the process recording a bit shallow since one cannot tell from the first look whether the boy is healthy or not. Further, we are not informed of the reasons that motivated the conducting of the tests. This leaves readers with numerous questions that cannot be answered directly from the process records.
Additionally, the process recording does not reveal much about the relationship between Boy X and his father. Well, the boy blames his father for his problems. Nonetheless, we are not informed of the reasons behind his contentions. This, therefore, makes the whole process recording a vague since it leaves readers with many question marks.
According to Mr. T, the boy expresses doubts about his feelings for his father as he believes the lifestyle of the parent affects the boy negatively. Boy X has unsupervised visits with his sister and mother at least once a week but his mother has not visited for the last two months. Mr. T also acknowledges that the healthy communication between Boy X and his sister has deteriorated in the past months. The permanency plan for this case is guardianship that Mr. T is willing to pursue at the appropriate time. This little knowledge may not be effectively used to provide formidable solutions to the boy’s familial quandaries.
Whereas the process recording provides enough information about the guardian’s busy schedule, it does not offer much help to aid in creation of enough time to help the respondent have more time with Boy X. Mr. T's is a Manager at a food store in Crystal City, Virginia. His work hours are as follows: 3am – 12noon on Mondays, 10am – 6pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 7am – 3pm and on Sundays. He is off on Fridays and Saturdays. He has limited time to spend with the boy, but the process recording does not provide solution for this shortcoming.
The boy is social and active. This must be one of the reasons he is abandoning his book work and began failing. There is hope that the boy will improve as he gets used to his new capabilities and is able to create a balance between his newly found status and the call for good education.
