McGregor theory Y states that employees in that specific organization are capable of seeking responsibility, self-direction and also being creative. At whole foods, it can be seen that all the staff are encouraged to apply conscious capitalism in their practices. This means that the staffs are encouraged to be their own bosses by being taught how to think for their own selves. With these, McGregor theory Y is being applied in the organization.
At whole foods, they make sure that they hire people who are well qualified and make sure that they are comfortable at their place of work. As they recognize that in happy employees result in happy customers, they have been focusing on the happiness of their own employees. With this reason, they build their human and social capital through creating a better ground for their existence.
21st century managers are team players who will think and act collectively in an organization. In the article, it can be seen that the staff are trained is such a way that they think collectively and team work is highly promoted by the managers. On the Carroll’s pyramid, Whole foods will be ranked on the philanthropic category. As it can be seen, the company treats its employees well, who in turn treat the customers raising revenue hence profitability. This means that all parties benefit in the business hence making the company ethically fit.
Dignity of human life, loyalty, honesty, fairness, humaneness, common good are some of the general ethical principles that can be seen to be practiced at Whole Foods. The fact the firm is ethically fit, any worker would want to work there as good treatment is guaranteed.
