It is truly said by many research analysts that, any employee working in any type of organization, need to have managerial, administrative, and technical skills in order to perform well at the given organization. But, at the same time, he needs to be motivated for achieving the desired objectives of the organization. The HR Manager will provide guidelines to the employees through which they can be motivated. Looking at the case of Hooters, it was found that, certain store level managers were helping the ground staff in learning the processes and operational activities, and thereby were increasing their motivation for the work. However, there were managers who were not only motivating the workers, but were also exploiting them. Hence, it is the responsibility of the top-level management to look out for the motivation and job satisfaction levels of the employees. They need to reward the employees so that the motivation levels are not down. There should be certain policies regarding employee care and safety that will improve the motivation of these employees.
- Hostile environment
Hostile environment refers to unfriendly atmosphere, lack of support and regular conflicts between the employees in the organization. As far as Hooters Inc. is considered, we did not find any hostile environment existing at the top level as well as the bottom level. But, we could find managers who were indulge into exploiting of the ground level staff. This might result into conflicts, which in turn would affect the productivity levels and reputation of the organization. The organization should look out for a strategic approach that will help in improving the hostile environment within the organization by providing necessary guidelines and instructions to all the employees of the organization.
- Team work
Team work at the workplace will help in eradicating the difference of socioeconomic background, the traditional beliefs, work-equality status, and differences in the individual opinions. It helps in proper planning, implementing, and analyzing the final outputs. In the given situation of Hooters, we find different teams for catering, cleaning, and serving. They divide their entire work, which helps in increasing the efficiency levels of the employees. The entire morale of the employee gets boosted by working in a team. It also helps in improving their productivity levels in the given organization.
- Conclusion
The HR Department should ensure that there should be no discrimination amongst all the employees of the organization. They need to provide equal opportunities to all the employees, so that each of them will be able to showcase their talent and abilities. The HR Department and the respective Departmental Manager can decide upon the roles and responsibilities of all the employees. The top- and middle-level management requires preventing the hostile environment within the organization. In order to improve efficiency of the employees, the team leaders need to delegate work responsibilities. Hooters in this case have been performing well from the teamwork perspective. They need to improve the motivation levels of their employees. They even need to work upon certain conflicting issues, in order to prevent a hostile environment within the organization.
