Management of change.
Management of change is a critical challenge that health care administrators are obliged to take into consideration for a positive change to take place. For success to be registered, health care administrators should acquire and maintain the skills and expertise needed to undertake their professional duties that are narrowed to their competencies. Since there is a rapid and drastic change in the health care sector, administrators should address the ways of coping up with such changes to ensure there is a success in the health care sector.
Establishment of a clear vision on the change process direction.
Ensuring that successful change and a positive social impact is reached entails that the healthcare administrator should establish a clear directive as health care changes are concerned. The administrators should closely monitor all the processes of change to ensure that there is a fulfillment of the projected purposes of change. There are numerous modifications in the health care system and therefore, the administrators to keep a clear focus on the emerging issues caused by the changes.
Competency of members of staff.
Another challenge needed to be addressed by the health care administrators to ensure a positive social change is acquiring and maintaining competent members of staff. Having people with expertise in the healthcare sector will help in the provision of expert services which in turn leads to the success of the administration system.
The smart goals that are related to my career that I will commit to achieving in the next three years include the following:
As a health administrator, one of my smart goals is to increase the number of student trainees in the health care system. The larger number of trained personnel will help in managing the health sector work in a convenient way and thus improve efficiencies in the health care system (Big Heart Media, 2008). I will commit myself to achieving the goal by increasing the number of students to be admitted in the medical training institutions and ensure proper training is imparted to them.
Another smart goal related to my career is to expand the size and the operations of the entire health care system. This goal will be achieved by combining some efforts from the whole health care system as well as including other external bodies to aid in the expansion and improvement of the general health care system. I will ensure the goal is achieved by making partnerships with other organizations who are aiming at improving the health status of the health care system. I will as well call upon the government to set aside some funds to allow growth for the health care facilities.
The other goal I would commit myself to achieve in the coming three years is to adopt the advent of technology in the operations of the health care system. This will be accomplished through the adoption of the new techniques of operating a health care system to increases efficiencies. The actions to take to achieve this particular goal is to modernize the system in shifting from the old system to an entirely new one.
For instance, I will adopt the use of computers to control the operations taking place in the healthcare facilities. Moving to a digital world will entail the utilization of the computers to monitor and control the patients in the facility and enable quick assessment of each patient. In the embracing of the digital era, patients will be issued with identity cards that are quickly scanned for information and in the process, the time to take in servicing the patients will be made shorter and efficient.
Ways to leverage strengths, communication skills and leadership style.
One of the means of leveraging my strengths is by first analyzing the type of a person I am to better my understanding with others. I tend to have the great focus on the themes of life, follow up on them and make the required adjustments as per the priorities (Forde, 2006). Being an achiever and a great competitor is also a way of leveraging myself through comparison of performance against other individuals. Having great significance in the eyes of others is my way of leveraging my strength as well as have close relationships with other people.
I leverage my communication skills by building and maintaining my relationships with other personalities. Maintaining healthy relationships helps me to maximize the benefits of the free flow of information and ideas between various individuals which improves the performance of activities and businesses. Communication skills are strengthened through interactions and sharing of ideas.
Leadership style requires individuals to have the great self-awareness that helps them to develop strategies to maximize their strengths and confront any weaknesses. Leveraging one's leadership style requires one to have full knowledge of who they are to allow proper setting up of strategies. It is significant in enabling one to strategize on the way to approach a project and tackle the necessary initiatives.
