This memo is about my future career as a military officer. I am currently pursuing a course in human resource, a course that will enable me understand the management of people within the military forces. Becoming a military officer has its advantages and disadvantages, which I will discuss in this memo. Most people go into the military forces mainly to pay back their educational loans and achieve some leadership experience. For my case, I plan to gain experience on how the human resource department of military forces function. I believe it is worth pursuing a career in military, but there exist hurdles that I have to brace myself to face.
Background: Many people join the military for the prestige awarded to soldiers, as well as the financial and educational benefits, but some do it for other reasons. Being a service requires one to set the standards for other soldiers. While some disregard the notion that becoming an officer can serve as a source of career advancement, I believe that with my degree in human resource management, I would be able to receive promotions within a short duration. This job entails serving the enlisted women and men under your leadership and brings them back alive. It follows that joining military service is more of a calling than a career. The main issue with the military service is the bureaucracy and the unfavorable working conditions that can discourage other from joining military service or even resign.
Work Completed: for the past one year, I have studied the various aspects of human resource and its relation to military service. I have attended all class sessions and completed all assignment for this course. I have visited the visited the regional military camp and talked to the official to know whether they have a human resource department. I was informed that the government takes the responsibility of recruiting new officials and the camp only conducts the training.
Work to be Completed: In the next 2 months, I will visit the government agency responsible for recruitment and training of military officials and examine the responsibility of the human resource department in relation to responsibilities and duties. I have made an appointment with the head of human resource department at the government offices who will help me complete the process.
Anticipated problems: The bureaucracy in the forces may make it impossible for me to get some of the information I plan to collect. Additionally, some of the information may not be disclosed by the military service owing to the nature of their operations. This would make it difficult to learn some of the activities of the human resource department.
