Proposal to a Local Organization
Introduction
I am a clinical doctor by profession and have been a volunteer in the March of Dimes organization since my enrolment in college for my course. Since the first year of my school life in college, I have been working as an intern in your organization until I completed my studies. The exposure and experience that your organization has given me has been of immense help in my career as well as in real life. Throughout my internship in your organization, I have managed to have got a few contacts of people who have played a role to motivate and who I look up to as mentors in my field. The chief doctor in charge of health in New York has not only been my motivator but has also helped me grasp all the necessary skills required to perform my work better . I can talk to him as a friend where we discuss issues ranging from life to business and projects that relate to business. In one of our many conversations, I mentioned to him the passion I had to conduct a door to door immunization project and check up on pregnant women and new born babies.
My internalization of the problem goes way behind to my background where I experienced and witnessed women and children die due to lack of checkups and immunizations. This trend broke my heart and I promised to do my best to help the people from my neighborhood once I pursue my career. In this regard, I talked to my immediate boss and proposed to him the benefit of having such a program. The benefit would be immense and many immature deaths can be controlled. The purpose of this proposal is, therefore, to give a detailed explanation of the project, its implications to the society and the benefits that the organization would accrue if this project were to be implemented. Background
Pregnancies are sensitive and women in this stage of their lives must be well catered to prevent any disappointments. In addition, new born babies are susceptible to many infections as this is the most critical time of development of inner organs in the body. It is therefore paramount that enough care is given to women and children at these crucial times of their lives. Moreover, if proper care is given to the pregnant women and children, new born babies are bound to live happily and healthy. A society that minds pregnant women cares for a generation and this actuality makes this project very viable.
Problem Statement
There are increased mortality rates amongst children living in areas of low income and where health assistance is not accessible . In addition, premature pregnancies that arise due to lack of check-ups in pregnant mothers are on the increase amongst people in low income areas.
Purpose
The project has the following purposes:
Proposal
The project will be carried out on a regular pattern where the affected will be visited in phases. Firstly, all the needy will be identified through the use of surveys. Since the areas of need are demarcated and identified, the modes of data collection will be easy to implement. The use of local leaders to identify the needy cases will be incorporated. This will ensure that health checkups are conducted on each and every person who needs it. in cases of immunization of new born babies, all those whose children have not been immunized will receive the dosage. This plan is as enshrined in the mission statement of your organization which aims at ensuring that all mothers and children get access to proper healthcare. If the project is rolled out and is effective, the mortality rates in children under the age of five and the premature births by women are expected to decrease with over 90%.
Plan
The project will be monitored to access if it was successful after completion of the first phase. Any subsequent follow-ups will be done depending on the success of the initial rollout. Improvements will be done and recommendations will be highly regarded.
Schedule
The data collection period is expected to take two weeks. After the identification, the check up and immunization process will be rolled out on the needy and this expected to take one month.
Staffing
The project will require experts on the field to collect the relevant data that will be used in ascertaining all the needy cases. The staff on the ground will be data collectors who will be employed by the firm. Other experts required will be additional doctors as the exercise is meant to take the shortest time possible.
