Reflection paper
This is a very intriguing article. It addresses a very important question in the modern world. Human activities have been responsible for the damage caused in the environment. Human beings because of their intelligence have been able to conquer nature. However, is it the right approach towards life? Humans seem to get the authority to do their activities from numerous sources. For instance, the bible gives man authority and dominion over other living creatures. Science has also shown that humans have a higher intelligence than other creatures and therefore they have been able to shape nature according to their will. However, the same activities that have allowed humans to conquer nature have also resulted in the damage of the environment.
Therefore, there is a need for humans to know that they directly link to nature. If humans do not do enough to protect nature, they will make the world uninhabitable even for the humans themselves. Today, many people tend to think that they are separate from nature. This is because they do not see how their activities have any effect on them. This is because humans have become shortsighted and can only see things from their own viewpoint. However, humans need to understand that they are part of the problem and can therefore be part of the solution. This can only be done when there is a story that is able to personally relate to all humans about their relationship with nature. As most lunar explorers have experienced, this can be referred to as the overview, where a human is able to see all the relationships between different entities in nature and the need for cooperation between all the entities in order to survive collectively.
Think on these things
Education aims at preparing people to be able to live their lives properly. However, education nowadays is seen as a way to socialize individuals in a way that ensures that their actions and activities conform to set rules and regulations. However, if education is viewed for this purpose, it tends to show that life is limited to having a job or an occupation. This is not right since there are other facets surrounding human life. There is more to life than having a job or an occupation. It is important to note that occupation plays a critical role since positive impacts on the world are achievable through employment and occupation.
However, there is more to life. Life is made up of interactions and relationships and our education systems do not teach these. It is therefore important to be able to have a bigger view of education. Things in the world are interconnected. For instance, the second question asks whether there would be chaos if everyone revolted. However, this question is narrow. What are the people revolting against? If everyone revolted against the same system, would it then mean that they would be working towards a similar cause and therefore less chaos than is present where everyone is working to meet their own personal and often selfish ambitions? Education therefore needs to teach people about the expanses of life and also of its subtleness. People need to understand the small things and how they work together before they can be able to understand the bigger picture which is the purpose of life itself.
