The business discourse is a very interesting concept that exists in the modern society. Many people are trying to maximize their profit through all the possible ways that they can think of. Nothing stops them in creating income and adding it to their pocket. The debate in the world of business does not only aim on the first very prime aim of all the business relations. Some people may say that business exists only in order to increase the profit. However, there are different opinions that consider quite an opposite answer. There is a thought that the business world exists in order to make our world a better place to live in and it increases an overall well being of all the people.
It is very important to understand and remember that people are the main heroes in any business connection. They work on the businesses and they are the ones who come up with all the plans in their heads in order to make those businesses more successful. Therefore, to some extent businesses usually are trying to be good for the overall society and people who live in it. There was even a paper that investigated the relationship between entrepreneurs and human happiness. In “Kant’s Categorical Imperative and the “Business” of Profit Maximization: The Quest for Service Paradigm” the authors present the cases that are closely connected towards the moral values that are mentioned by Kant. Business and moral values are closely connected to each other and people should still follow the pursuit of happiness in the world in order to make it a better place to live in.
In his works Kant as the author focuses on the issue of moral philosophy and its connection to when people are trying to follow their goals in their lives. One of the main ideas in this approach is that people should think of the good intentions before starting their business. People must have good ideas in their minds beforehand. People should consider the needs of the others before. At first people should purely look at morality and after then people may consider their own experiences and ideas that they want to include in their life. Our “wills can be influenced by practical needs that a person experiences” (Kant 1959). So in terms of business people should focus mainly on their moral principles before making decisions that they might regret and these decisions will be influenced by their practical needs. Kant's emphasis on a from the earlier technique to search out and build up basic good standards, in any case, does not generally seem, by all accounts, to be coordinated by his own practice.
Friedman (1962) states “that the state should step in to correct these market failures”. However, if people were thinking in advance they would not need to correct anything. Therefore, according to Kant’s philosophy it is important for people to focus on moral principles before making any decisions that only purely benefit them. Business is a field that may be very complicated and provoking to many people. Money makes people forget about the other people and the way they feel in the world. It does not matter what the profit in business is, it is still important to remember about people who surround you and the way that this process may make them feel. Therefore, moral principles should be considered at all times by all the people who are trying to maximize their benefit in the world. It is very important to consider the needs of the other people.
