There are many interesting personalities in the history of humankind. Some of them amaze more than the others. There are people who have a strong will to be free and live their life independent from the others. These people are known as leaders. They create their own lives the way they see it. Frederick Douglass and Harriet Beecher Stowe are two characters that amaze people till now with their abilities to be strong in any life situation.
Frederick Douglass is an African American man who managed to become free by the means of his self power. He was not born as a free person. However, this fact did not stop him from wanting to become one. And as a result, a reader can see that Frederick has reached his goal regardless of the circumstances that were following him all his life. He was born in the times when it was hard to establish your personality; however, Mr. Douglass was trying hard all his life. Luckily, there were a number of circumstances that might have caused him to succeed in his struggle. One of the first circumstances that saved Frederick from living a life of the regular slave is that he was not working in the field. Therefore, his work was not as hard as the work of the other slaves. The other reason is that he was lucky enough to meet Sophia Auld. This woman had a very kind heart, because she is described as the woman with a very kind heart "very kindly commenced to teach me the A, B, C" (Douglass 33). Therefore, he had a very strong personality and he saw the world that he wanted to live in and in such a way he changed his life.
Harriet Beecher Stowe is another personality who was closely connected to anti slavery movement. She was a woman who did not close her eyes on the injustice of the world and she was trying to make the world a better place for people who just have happened to be born with a different skin color. According to Biography.com: the author became famous for “Uncle Tom’s Cabin, which fanned the flames of sectionalism before the Civil War” (Harriet Beecher Stowe Biography Web). Her book has showed the reality to people and it was a very picturesque book which was really showing all the difficulties that slaves were facing throughout that time. History.com states: “Uncle Tom’s Cabin casually endorsed colonization rather than abolition” (Harriet Beecher Stowe Web). She saw the issue that puts under threat many people. And this issue was seen as a problem which stems from religion and people’s emotions.
In conclusion, it is necessary to state that both Frederick Douglass and Harriet Beecher Stowe are people who we can look up for. Their strong self will and self determination have leaded them to a place in their lives that they saw. They have created themselves. Their strong personalities did not let them to put their hands down in the hard moments. They were fighting for what they believed. Their victories should make an example for people who want to change their lives and the lives of the whole country. It is important to act and do things and in this case people will get what they want.
