The paper further delves into anthropological tenets of speech community. The application of the same in political spheres is utilized an illustration front.
Hispandering has taken root on its own. To some extent, it can be deemed as being independent. The tenet is in consideration its being mock Spanish. For one, most languages borrow from others to grow. Tentatively, Hispandering can be seen as new dialect in development. Given time, the same can grow to form an independent language. The development is widely utilized in political spheres. Hispandering occurs when someone for example a politician panders to a constituency, which speaks Spanish. Since its creation on the slate magazine by Mickey, many politicians are still practicing the term today. A recent example is the proposal to legalize immigrants who have stayed in the U.S for more than five years but still do not have legal documents to be in the country. Dick Gephardts brought forth a proposal on the same . Almost all political hopefuls eyeing to win over Hispanic votes are Hispanders. Those seeking to win over Hispanic votes try to win their hearts by fighting on the line of immigration reforms. The reforms border on undocumented immigrants having a leeway to become automatically citizens, as well as they obey the rule of law and respect the traditions of their host country. The aforementioned aspect is in consideration with tenancy in the country more than five years. However, this poses a challenge to them because among the Spanish people, immigration reforms are not among the key priority issues.
Currently, in the United States politics, Donald Trump is one of the closest aspirants to winning the White House race. Looking at his political campaigns, Donald’s Hispandering is evident and one good example is a rally he conducted at Las Vegas. During the rally, a Columbian immigrant went on stage to show her support for this presidential hopeful. In her speech, the Columbian tried to bring out the fact that Donald Trump loves Hispanics and the latter reciprocate in kind to the former. The move left the whole world speculating on whether the Columbian was hired by Donald Trump and his political campaign team to help win over the Latinos by showing her support for Trump .
Hillary Clinton is another well-known Hispander. Her tactics to win over the Latino votes has gone as far as claiming to be just like the Abuelas. There was even an article written in attempt to convince the Latinos that Hillary was no way different from the Abuelas. The article posted on Hillary Clinton’s website was titled,“seven ways Hillary is just like your Abuela.” However, to her shock the move angered many Latinos who purposely took it on twitter to fire back at Hillary’s Hispandering tactic. Despite receiving mass criticism from Latinos via twitter, Hillary has never stopped to use her Hispandering moves. Later she was seen dancing merengue. The Hispandering incidence occurred at a rally in Washington.
Despite politicians eyeing for their votes in all manner of ways, the Latinos have increasingly been enlightened and they are now more aware of politicians' dirty moves. The community now understands the things, which are of most important to their development. The shift in the society's state from one in the political darkness to one that understands it's life better will call for politicians to change their styles of Hispandering. The Latinos are keen to watch what politicians are saying and compare it with reality hence being able to understand better.
