Proposed practice approach
The increasing complexities in the delivery of care require nurses to adopt evidence-based practices when addressing health care issues. The evidence-based approach demands a better understanding of the clinical issue presented and in answering clinical questions. Evidence-based practice acts as a problem-based approach incorporating the use of current best practices using highly designed studies, professional knowledge, and patient preferences to solve a clinical issue (Agnes, Balneaves et al., 2015).
Leading policy development for selected issue
A student must apply reflective clinical and practical skills to address a problem using the evidence-based practice approach. NCLEX-RN strategies play a critical role in guiding the nurse student through getting correct solutions to problems by eliminating wrong answers using a multiple-choice test (Irwin, & Burckhardt, 2015). The paper identifies high levels of anxiety among students because of uncertainties introduced by the desire to know the outcome of the evidence-based practice research. A policy that reduces the level of anxiety among nursing students by introducing effective learning curriculum that promotes student participation in the learning process helps address the issue. A policy that supports a research-based initiative such as decision tree models, pacing strategies, and encouraging critical thinking also helps reduce anxiety levels in nursing students.
Strategies to overcome barriers
The policy-making process faces many challenges that influence the outcome of the policy. One of the strategies for overcoming such barriers is the involvement of all stakeholders, students, and the institution, in the decision-making process towards drafting the new policy. The strategy ensures every individual’s satisfaction and eliminates instances of having some people demanding an explanation about certain areas of the policy. The second strategy involves conducting a pilot test to determine the effectiveness of the policy in addressing the issue. The outcome of the pilot test helps in establishing challenges that the policy may face and recommends various improvements to make the policy achieve acceptable outcomes.
