Self-awareness played a significant role in Helgesen’s life since it changed the way she perceived her abilities as a writer and made her feel that she could contribute a lot to the society through her books. She, therefore, trusted herself and her expertise that pushed her to endure difficult periods trying to write her first book that did not even earn much recognition when it was initially released. Self-awareness also pushed her to understand the role she had in providing talks and serving as leaders in spite of the fact that women were at that time seen as incapable of occupying leadership positions.
The authenticity of Helgesen’s leadership is seen when she is committed and confident in her work despite her first book not being successful. Additionally, she sees herself as an imaginative and skilled observer of current issues in the society which proves her authentic leadership regarding her ability to understand the need for self-knowledge and how to use it to improve the lives of people. Moreover, the passion for writing proves authenticity in the way leaders are supposed to be passionate about what they do. The consulting opportunities and the fact that she later managed to deliver seminars and work with some clients prove that she was committed to improving the well-being of people by exploring their opinions.
Taking the mantle of leadership is important for Helgesen since it would shape her commitment and confidence more and would help her transform the attitudes of other writers who shared similar experiences. Taking the mantle of leadership was a new challenge that would also see Helgesen provide guidelines to others and be a servant leader for the people. Taking the mantle of leadership proves the passion and commitment to be a servant leader and use the position to transform the lives of other people. Every leader would want to assume the leadership role since apart from being a personal fulfillment, it provides the opportunity to understand other people better and also builds an individual’s capacity to be a perfect example of the society through transformational and servant leadership.
My Uniqueness and Focus in Life
The uniqueness about me is that I in spite of failures that present themselves in my life, I am always motivated by the need to push harder and remain optimistic to improve the lives of others in the society. I am also confident and committed to whatever initiative I undertake since I believe that it is only through being passionate that I will be able to achieve the results I desire. Additionally, I am driven by the need to promote equality in society by appreciating the differences that exist among different people and avoiding issues such as expressing bias towards others. Such self-regulatory attitude and behavior have been critical to helping me establish trusted relationships with my colleagues and has also been instrumental in helping me appreciate the need to have an internalized moral perspective.
The primary focus of my life is to play a part in transforming the society by addressing issues facing society members not only in the nation but across the globe and providing a solution to the problems through consultations with others. My passion is driven by the need to provide guideless to people and explore the society in ways that enhance strategies through which everyone has a broader perspective of how to build a sustainable society. I am optimistic and hopeful that in despite the hurdles that may present themselves in the way, I will still have the resilience to continue serving the community through taking part in various organizational initiatives that focus on building a sustainable society through delivering products and services that meet the needs and expectations of clients. My mission is also driven by the need to improve my communication competence such that I can link up well with others and interact with everyone in ways that will create mutual trust and transparency in understanding one another way of opinions, beliefs, and perception and coming up with the means to promote long-term relationships.
