Mission Statement
I will ensure all the personnel are comfortable to increase their productivity.
The human brain is a complicated piece of creation. If a person has to think then, they utilize the left hemisphere while actions based on emotions and instincts are right hemisphere based. For an idea to be created, it has to be formed in the brain. There is an argument that some people are more right brained, and others are left brained. The left brain is associated with the ability to provide speech while the right is non-lingual (Miller & Miller). The left side of the brain is more focused towards analysis, proportionate and serial processing of information. While the right is for the perception of synthesis of the information. Most academicians are said to be left brain sided as more of the school work is better processed by the left side. Musicians and artists are more right brained people. The phenomenon is brought about by the ability of the right side to be more creative, recognize colors and pattern.
However, some people, for example, Einstein raise conflict to the science of the hemispheres of the brain. The scientist is said to have had an artistic side as well. Since he enjoyed playing the violin. He also stated that most of his scientific studies and ideas were developed during some of his creative activities like sailing and imagination games. The same applies to the all-time famous Amadeus. He was a great composer and musician. But also, he was a very smart person. On hearing a tune once he would master it and replay it correctly. These two cases raise questions about whether the left and the right hemisphere theory apply to everyone.
People then can be said to be comfortable in the way they use the brain for different age groups. Writers are more comfortable using one side of the brain than the other. Children of kindergarten level they try to create stories from the right hemisphere. While such a different level as the ninth grade will give more logical stories. Younger people are predominantly right sided, but as they keep growing they flip quite fast into the left, which is maintained for many years into adulthood.
For a story to be sensible, the writer has to use both sides of the brain. In the drafting phase, imagination and emotions are used to get the story started, which is a function of the right aspect of the mind. After the draft is finished time has to be taken to read through it correcting any mistakes. Ensuring that everything is well laid out which now employs the function of the left hemisphere.
In the creation of the mission statement, the left side is more operational than the right. This situation is encouraged by the fact that the left orientation is also affected by the personality of the person. In an attempt to create a well thought off statement, a draft is created, then edited out to create the perfect and final copy. However, writing can be learned with time. Successful writing skills are made of continuous practice. A broad evaluation of the writing is core to making insignificant corrections in spelling and grammar. The flow, the meaning, and the message delivery are more relevant than the rest of the writing skills(Haven,1999).
