While the use of Notepad ++ has its advantages over the use of Wordpress in website development, it presents several pitfalls which can be addressed through the use of word press instead. However, it is significant to focus on the goals to be achieved before focusing on the software or application to be used in developing the website. The goal, in this case, is to build a simple website which is not backed by any database or shopping cart. In other words, the website to be built requires minimal coding. As a consequence, it would employ the use of Notepad++ in developing and building the website in a simple manner.
As compared to Wordpress or Weebly, the use of Notepad++ is pretty simple and easy to use. Wordpress is a more sophisticated platform which is used to edit and customize complicated websites with numerous requirements (Heitkötter, Hanschke & Majchrzak, 2012). Wordpress is sophisticated in that it does not allow the use of simple programming language like HTML in editing and building websites. Consequently, the use of Notepad ++ presents a simple platform which allows the use of HTML code in developing simple websites.
It does not present the same opportunities the use of Notepad++ allows its users. The use of Notepad ++ allows the user to create a simple website customised according to the desired requirements. On the other hand, the use of Wordpress presents limited alternatives and options to customise a website to simple design specifications. That is to say that the use of Wordpress is limited to the features presented by the platform as opposed to Notepad++ which is open ended.
Besides simplicity, it is imperative to look into other significant aspects of website design such as appearance, security and portability. While the use of Notepad++ allows for a simple, easy and fast way to develop a simple website without database backing, it does not provide the same privileges on security, portability and appearance as compared to Wordpress. Wordpress is a platform which allows its users to build simple websites which are secure, portable and have a good look and feel as compared to Notepad++. It is imperative to note that, other factors constant, Notepad++ present the best tool for developing a simple website as compared to other applications like Wordpress or Weebly.
