Printing and Handling of cards
This week I have learnt about printing and handling cards in the cards centre of the bank. I have learnt that the forms from customers for printing cards can come from 3 places, which include
Forms created from the customers from different branches
Forms created from Section 1 , i.e., from Customer Services from the same branch
At the end of the working day, the employees ensure proper counting of the cards. They count the number of cards that are applied and cards that are printed, and they should be equal to the cards in inventory. I also learnt about the policy if the card is captured in the ATM. The employees count the number of cards that are captured in the machine. If the card holder does not contact the bank regarding card then the card is destroyed in a week, but if the card holder inform the bank, then the card can be kept for more than a week. The information regarding number of forms obtained and number of cards collected should be accurate. During my internship this week, I was helping an employee to prepare monthly report, by indicating the number of forms and number of cards, in order to provide exact information to the manager, and he told me that the information should be accurate, because it exerts influence on annual grading of employees. Accuracy matters in the bank, and performance of a banker is considered from the accuracy in his/her work. This week I got the opportunity of meeting different employees because shifts keep on changing from night to morning. Some employees explained the things and facts in a detailed manner, while some employees just told the basic facts. In this manner, I managed to get maximum information regarding this section and department of the bank. One of the employees also told me the benefits of cards of QNB. He told me that the cards of QNB are accepted in above 200 countries, and in about 2 Million ATMs that are displaying Visa and MasterCard logo. They allow payment of bills, and facilitate the customers to withdraw cash on instant basis up to 100 percent of the credit limit.
Problems or difficulties faced during the week:
This week I found it difficult to get more knowledge and information as there were Eid holidays, and bank remained closed from 3rd July to 7th July. So, I did not get much experience and knowledge this week. Further, I faced difficulty in double checking the accurate information. The information regarding customer request for cards, and number of cards collected should be accurate before it is provided to the manager. This is the last step, and everything should be confirmed, so I faced difficulty in confirming each and everything for providing true information.
New skills learned
This week also I have learnt some skills. I learnt that double checking is essential in order to ensure accuracy, and information should be doubly checked before forwarding it to higher management. I learnt to do multitasking at a time, but in every task accuracy should be considered, and every task should be handled in an effective and careful manner.
Trouble shooting or problem solving experiences
Employee of the bank who was checking the number of requests and number of cards collected advised me to check each and every word before handling it to the manager, and also check the accuracy of information. I checked the information from the system, and then I matched it with the information provided in forms, and also checked the cards carefully. I remain fully attentive during that period, and was not able to ensure multitasking.
Field supervisor’s feedback
Field supervisor mentioned that he noted a positive aspect that I manage to do all works carefully. I become fully involve in the task, and complete it with sincerity and ensure hardworking in every task. But, he also mentioned that I should improve my capability of multitasking because multitasking is a part of banker’s life. He told me that I became so much involved in ensuring accuracy, he called my name but I did not respond as I was busy in handling one task. He advised me that senses should be active while managing the work, because we have to respond to the queries of customers, and customers can come anytime in order to get the required information, and we have to satisfy them, and at the same time we have to manage our own work also.
Work environment
The work environment of this section is also very friendly. The employees are keen to provide information, and give answers of all the questions that were asked. They ensure teamwork, and obey all the orders of higher management in order to ensure smooth functioning in the organization.
Weekly contributions to the organization
I helped employees in checking the details provided by the customers, so that accuracy can be ensured. This helped employees to manage other works, and helped in reduction of their burden.
Summary of week’s learning
This week I have learnt that the forms for request of card can be collected from three places. In case the card is captured, the customer should contact the bank, otherwise the card will be destroyed within a week. Accuracy of information should be ensured. The number of cards that are applied and the cards printed should be equal to the cards in inventory. Multitasking should be done in an effective manner.
