The women’s rights are promoted through the female organization, known as the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID), and whose initial name was Association for Women in Development. The realization of the women’s rights draws its origin in the wake of the 21st century where women stepped forward, to adequately fight for their rights and defend what their territory was. The organization was set to safeguard and even promote the welfare of women by advocating for equity and equality in various fields (Gustafson, para 4). Women play a significant role in the economic, social and even political development in any country. The role that women play is, however; limited by the various challenges that face their rights (Farrior, para 4).
There has been a tremendous development in the development of human equality, and the opportunities are given to women in the recent past. The development has, however, been able to achieve its level of success due to the various inputs that the AWID officials play. IN the past, women had experienced a lot of challenges that were linked with the opportunities they were supposed to get in the world. Men had dominated the various places of work, and all decisions were left to men to make. In the wake of the 21st century, however, different bodies and organizations came together to fight for the rights and equal chances given to women (Mlambo-Ngcuka 5).
The realization of the women rights brought change and even a greater level of development for all the worlds’ inhabitants. Women were given the chance to head institutions and even work as the men where there was an equal provision of opportunities for all. Many countries started to experience some new levels of economic, social and even political development (Cohen, para 2). Women have been able to change the way in which organizations were run and even operated. The rights that women enjoy have enabled them to venture into various positions of leadership, allowing them to achieve a higher level of independence.
The development of women rights was, however, met with different challenges. The challenges emanated from the social, political, economic as well as the societal-cultural based factors. In many countries, many women faced the challenges of fighting for their rights due to the deficiency of knowing their rights. High levels of illiteracy had also contributed to the development of the challenges. Many women also faced the cultural facts, and even what was termed as taboos, for them to participate in what was referred to as their human rights (Retta 25).
The challenges that faced the fight for the women’s’ rights did not doom their efforts futile. The struggle for their rights landed their efforts in the legal processes, in both the international and the domestic legislations, where their rights are recognized. The laws aim at reducing the levels of discrimination. Some laws even term women as a group that is endangered, and so, they demand a greater responsibility by the government and other institutions in the realization of the women rights (UN-DESA, para 3).
The achievements realized by the organizations that fight for the women rights can be attributed to the efforts that were put across by the growing groups of feminists, who saw the need to respect the women. The bodies also draw a lot of importance to the rise in the awareness created by the social media, as well as the various private and public organizations that stepped forward to aid in the realization of equity and equality for the human race. The rise in the media awareness, as well as the recognition of the roles that women play in the society, was an important step in the gain for the independence of women (Rosenfeld & Mardirossian 20).
Various issues were addressed in the process of acquiring the women rights. Human trafficking and the issues of sex workers were some of the issues raised in the demand for the women’s right. Other matters that are to be taken care of were the discrimination in the places of work, discrimination based on color and ability, the disability discrimination as well as discrimination based on the location of origin.
Women can be said to be a major factor in the society because they act as the bridge between the social and the realization of the economic liberalization. Women take part in various activities that promote equality and equal representation of all humans regardless of their status or even their places of origin. The achievements done on the women’s rights have been able to liberalize and even set women free from the domination and the oppression they went through in the hands of men. Women can now make their judgments, without involving men. Women can also own property; can also be able to have families without depending on me for their support and authority.
In conclusion, the realization of women’s rights has been a significant development in the understanding of various aspects of the world. There has been a significant development in the world and the recognition of women rights and the gain of freedom. There has been a major role associated with the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID), which fights for the women’s rights. Global development has also been realized through the women’s rights.
