Pros
When a leader assumes risk-taking attitude at work, he/she tends to possesses lower levels of fear of failure and losses compared to others. Because of this, such a risk-taking leader keeps moving even in hard-times when nothing goes right as planned. Another advantage of assuming risk leadership is that a person never compromises with current circumstances and remains committed to excellence as well as innovation and creation.
One major advantage of risk leadership is that an individual assuming this role tends to have curiosity in all aspects that, in turn, raises the person’s attention, motivation levels, commitment to learning and information retention. By taking only the calculated risks, leaders are at advantage to become more experienced than others and are able to engage consistently in development of mental capacities. Accepting times of turmoil and being comfortable with failure is one of the advantages of assuming risk leadership. Because of risk leadership, individuals can stand out from rest of the crowd and can identify profitable opportunities beforehand .
Cons
Those individuals who are new to the world of risk leadership tend to face certain cons of this action. For instance, a person assuming risk leadership tends to consistently suffer from fear of rejection and failure. One of the cons of risk leadership is that a person has to get out of one’s comfort zone at all times.
The fear of being laughed at or criticized publicly is another con of assuming risk leadership. Another disadvantage of risk leadership is that a person has to deal extensively with uncertainties and different vulnerabilities where a business and investment return is more likely to be compromised .
