Description of a live object (Car)
In order to evaluate the connection of a live object with its perception, I chose a car parked outside the house on the street. The car is a BMW sedan and has a black shade. The alloy wheels are shining bright and have the BMW logo in their geometric center. The car has brilliant finish and has shining body paint. The exterior window panes are extremely clean and it seems the car has been recently wiped clean.
Description of the object’s image (Car)
Viewing the image of BMW parked outside the house on the street has many more inferences drawn from it. The general observations made from the live car regarding the physical appearance are common to this description as well. In addition to those details, the background of the car seems very important in terms of the house and the car being linked through a social status. Further, the picture seems to be a marketing or advertising form of communication which wants to project the brilliant design features to the audience. Apart from these details, the use of light and contrast in the image seems to denote that an amateur photographer has taken the picture from a simple camera and not a DSLR one because the picture clarity and photo angel are not up to the professional levels.
Analysis of the two descriptions
Evaluating the difference of description between the above two cases, it is clear that the images have a higher perception at the brain when compared to the live view (Goldstein, 2015). The reason for this phenomenon is that deeper analysis on the entire visual is possible by accessing an image as it captures the moment and provides immense scope of perceiving the various components whereas the brain is not capable of analyzing live scene in such detail. It can be definitely concluded that “a picture speaks a thousand words”.
The description of the live object is more of a Propositional Representation because the given visual can be described in simple words and can also be explained via some abstract symbols or gestures (Goldstein, 2015). However, the description of the object’s image is depictive representation because there are multiple illustrations of the various parts of the entire visual which help in forming various perceptions of the scene(Goldstein, 2015).
