The Chinese Migrating to the US
China’s rich is already doing well in China so it is a “pull” when they still want to migrate to the US. The main reason is they want a better government that can provide more equitable opportunities and a healthier economic environment. China’s centralized government has created a disappointed and negative view of life with dominant control of economic activities. The sense of unfairness hangs over the quality of life. The Mexicans Migrating to the US
If given a choice, one out of three Mexicans would migrate to the US. Mexican communities have suffered too long from the intertwined causes of illegal drugs, crime and poverty in a depressed economy. Poor and middle-class Mexicans are being “pushed” to a safer society and a more prosperous neighbor like the US. The proximity is a “pull” as it saves a substantial amount of money and effort for poor families. Illegally crossing the border is a formidable and risky task but many are willing to take the risk. The Singaporeans Migrating to Australia
Push and pull factors combine to make many Singaporeans migrate to Australia.
Most Singaporeans find life to stressful from the competition of living space, natural resources and jobs from foreign labor. They feel that the government is allowing foreign workers to “push” them out of their country. They have one of the highest income levels in the world but the psychological burden is too much to bear.
The “land of plenty” which is Australia is “pulling them” to own much bigger land and a house. The chance for cheaper holiday travel adds to the belief of a better quality of life. (Chew)
