For Qualitative Data
The data for the qualitative research was gathered through a semi- structured interview. The interview of four students was conducted. A group of four students was a part of this study, and each student was asked some questions that were same because of their importance towards the study while other questions were changed depending on their answers. From their answers, themes were derived from the analysis of the findings. The keywords from their responses were taken which were about the current aim of the study.
On evaluating the responses of people, few themes were extracted that are the experience of SSAP, social value, and understanding different cultures. From the thematic analysis, it is observed that students had complete knowledge about SSAP, and they were of the view that the experience of SSAP through their university was beneficial for them in several aspects. It is noted that SSAP is beneficial for them because it helps them in understanding the norms of society. It helps them in attaining information related to the social values of the society. The respondents were very much focused on the social values as they believed that it can be helpful to them in different phases of life. Most of the students had similar answers towards the questions because they all had similar knowledge and information about it. Although, their views differentiated as to how some aspects of SSAP can have an impact on their lives. Another theme identified from the data was understanding of different cultures. The respondents have different opinions related to different cultures. Some of the respondents believe that it is important to have an understanding of different cultures because it will help them at the workplace. Some of the participants claim that a little knowledge about different cultures in necessary because people of different cultures have started living together. Therefore, knowledge about other cultures will help in understanding people better. From the data gathered and analysis of themes, it is noted that people are in favor of SSAP, and they consider it to be important as it helps them in gaining knowledge related to social values and psychology. It is helpful for them in their personal and professional life.
The findings of the study can use in future researches. The future research related to the different courses at universities and their benefits to the student can use the identified themes from the current study to enhance their work. The identified themes will help them in understanding the views of people related to different questions about SSAP.
For Quantitative
The data for the quantitative study was generated from the comments provided below the news article. The keywords from the comments were extracted which were related to the article and were the main reason of the conversation that resulted in several comments.
As different themes are identified from the comments of general public, it is known that the people have different views towards the act which was “indigenous war dance”. The people who are on the supporting side feels that the acts was good and appreciated it. They considered it to be something normal and such acts should not be used to create issue. While those towards whom the act was done it certainly had different views as they felt uncomfortable with such an act. Another theme that was identified in the paper was celebration. To celebrate is not an offense and people in general do not mind it. It is extracted that the people who were in support of the celebration act liked it and appreciated it. The people from the opposite side had negative views towards it. But in general, a common view observed towards celebration was that, it should have been done in front of one’s own fans. It is considered to be disturbing and provoking act. Such acts of celebrations are not appreciated even by general public who are not in support of either side. Indigenous culture, which is one of the identified themes is respected by all and people are of the view that culture can be and should be celebrated. It is more likely that people who have given such views are in support of the celebration act. It is also extracted from the findings that the indigenous culture celebrated as a dance would be respected and appreciated more if it is done in front of the supporting crowd. Such acts if conducted in this manner would certainly not provoke anyone. One of the themes is visiting fans because this terminology is widely used in the comments. The people do not appreciate the celebration act in front of the visiting fans and considerate to be pre-determined act. From all the identified themes, it is concluded that the indigenous culture and dance are respected by the people but such actions should not be done in front of visiting or opponent fans as it can provoke them .
The findings of the study can be used while working on studies related to sociology. The themes identified and the comments of the people give a brief idea about their thinking towards a specific thing. The social causes and consequences of human behavior is a wide area. The views of people analyzed thematically can help in understanding the reaction of people towards an act. The future studies related to the reaction of people in a game especially towards an opposition, can use the findings of this study for assistance.
