Purpose of Study
This study is a qualitative review on effective classroom management. It will identify appropriate strategies that teachers can employ to keep their students actively involved in all of their classroom lessons.
Description of Participants/Sample
The population/sample for this research includes teacher and a group of lower high school grade seven students.
The Research Design/Data Analysis
Research design, which examines the participants'/sample's definitions, goals and characteristics include, case study and grounded theory. The case study and grounded theory involve: (1) the purpose of the study (2) methods of data collection (3) data analysis and (4) outcomes
Methods of Data Collection
The data collection methods give update on how the researcher collected the data. Document analysis and observation are two appropriate methods for this review. It is a classroom management situation hence; the researcher will take into account the personal documents as they relate to the class teacher. The teacher gives first-person accounts of an individual’s actions, experiences, and beliefs. Examples of the documents are calendars, duty logs, e-mails, scrapbooks, blogs, Facebook posts, incident reports, reflections/journals, and newspapers.
Researchers also use observation to collect data in a natural setting (classroom). During the observation, the observer notes things such as the students' speech, actions, and attitudes towards the teacher, his peers and his learning, among other features.
Results
What did the researcher find during the research? The results come from the methodologies that the researcher applies to the case. These are objective findings with a fair analysis. These findings would come from the case study and observation analyses.
Analysis
Today, teachers find it difficult to keep the students at the lower high school level attentive an participatory throughout an entire lesson. They often implement systems that they feel are appropriate for quelling inappropriate behaviour during a lesson. Many of these systems involve complex rewards and punishment systems. The researcher usually writes a list of students who exhibit inappropriate behaviour and display it for the intended students and the others to see. This system is inappropriate based on original insights. It is degrading, and the classroom management plan is usually short lived. After a while, this strategy means nothing to the disrupters.
