Quality management in Healthcare Administration
Quality management in health care involves clinical governance and resource management practices to increase the quality of patient health care. Offering quality management in health care is very important for various reasons. Some of these reasons include improving the standards of healthcare offered to patients, ensuring accountability of staff members, to minimize chances of errors thereby improving the results in general (Subhash, 2013).
It is therefore imperative that for quality health care to be achieved the health practitioners must be able to do what is right, for the right people without delay and without applying trial and error. There are three main dimensions for quality management. The firstly dimension is comprised of the technical performance. This determines whether the quality offered by health practitioners adhere to the health standards. Effectiveness is the other critical dimensions, this simply imply that the expected outcome results of health care have to be met without fail. Lastly there is efficiency which means that the ratio of the output services to the overall cost of producing the services should be affordable. Achieving these three important designs can be an indication that a health service is able to offer quality management (Subhash, 2013).
There are principles that can be applied for achieving quality health management. All the efforts put should be for the uttermost good of the patients and not for any selfish individual gain. The leadership structure should be very good and be able to enhance unity of purpose and the future of the organization. It is important that every person in the health care be involved in the activities of the organization. This will ensure that they personally feel as part of the organizational activities and therefore offer maximum productivity. The organization should also offer a process approach and ensure continues improvement of the organization. Inter related systems should be managed for the uttermost achievement of the organization.
