I cases where a researcher is doing trying to evaluate companies oversees or far away from them, it would be best if they have employees print the consent form, sign it and then scan the signed form and send it back via email or fax. In regards the questionnaire, using technology can prove to be an effective way to overcome this obstacle. The researcher can ask employees to Skype and perform the interviews, as Skype provides a closer communication, or sent the questionnaires to the employees and get them back fully answered.
Depending on the company’s needs, the researcher will definitely need someone to overlook the works done and people working within the company in question; someone the researcher can trust to have full report of what is going on around their business. Also, they would certainly need a specialized web technician to deal with any problems with applications and software. Now, in terms of personnel, depending on the nature of the company, the researcher will need to find more than 2 people working for them, plus the 2 necessary aforementioned ones.
After subjects are selected, they can be debriefed fully by the researcher’s trustee and head of business, who will be a local or a person that could fly to the company’s premises. Other than that, the researcher can ask the employees to have a virtual meeting and Skype. That way, they can all discuss any queries and get a full brief on all matters.
Since the researcher needs to conduct a qualitative study, it would be best if they could get all the data they can retrieve, in any way. For that reason, it might be a good idea to have a two-way discussion, although not by email as it would lose precious time from waiting for responses, which is why a more direct method of communication is preferred.
Problem Statement
In manufacturing and retail businesses competition is growing at a fast-paced rate nowadays, which is why organizations need to generate opportunities that lead productivity and profitability, in order to sustain their business in the market. Although little is known as to why and which factors have contributed to the dissatisfaction within the store in question, it is true that the store investigated in this study demonstrates deficiencies in quality of work life, which influences the efficiency and enthusiasm of employees. According to Farjad, R. H. (2013), if employees are not satisfied with their job, productivity will decline. The store may as well have deficiencies in quality of work life as a result of job dissatisfaction among employees.
