After the Russian humiliation, white men were termed as no longer invincible after conquering other nations. The outcome of the war led to racial inequality and the less civilized countries of East were subject to colonialism. The book, Race and Racism in International Relations, the idea of race emerged from the age of empire and nation-building. During colonial periods, police were so brutal on subjects and lynched them mercilessly just on basis of racial discrepancy. There needs to be more work in circulating racist ideas globally and champion anti-racist traditions so as to absorb differences which appear when dealing with IR. The issue of race and racism in international relations is critical in discussing how individuals interact in work scenarios and other international settings. Alexander drew his ideas from the political legacy of W.E.B. Du Bois’s concept of the color line. Alexander is faced with the task of exempting himself from the systematic racism case of American employees. The African-American job applicants seeking positions in sales are neglected and when hired, they have no power over the whites. Such black employees are intimidated and punished for minor complains followed by threats of being sacked anytime. They are false fully accused of theft they don’t commit and are screened in an invasive manner. In the case, the defendants are being asked to implement policies which will prevent racial discrimination which is rampant in workplaces. Other employees are also subjected to racially insensitive jokes such as burrito face. These intimidate them and make them feel inferior and think that the place they occupy in the society is not the best.
Despite the complexity and the infuriating nature that we live in, there is a relationship that exists between genetics, race and IQ. Measures of IQ are culturally specific and will always vary from one place to another. The likelihood of the reason behind these translations in IQ is as a result of inequality. This means that the physical manifestations depicted by these differences in intelligence is from the fact that some groups of individuals are living in regions of varying privilege. Social consequences have effects based genetics, on race and IQ. In this article, the first mistake by Richwinen had a relation with race. Racial designations and some genetic markers vary from one region, country to another. IQ scores cannot be taken for granted when measuring cognitive ability as it is culture-specific. Individuals embrace different abilities due to varying IQ scores and the region that they occupy. If an individual prior to taking IQ test bears in mind that he/she is racially stigmatic, it will reasonably be low as a result.
Organizations can use magazines and photography to show the how the cultures of the Westerners are similar or different from foreigners’. They portray people in symbolic dressing that articulate their culture as well as the engagement in ritual behavior. The authors of National Geographic try to bring together entertainment and knowledge. Whites reading the magazines will try to compare their prestigious way of life to the inferior Africans’. The Africans in the magazine are portrayed dressed in costumes that show that the culture of the non-Whites has not evolved and no sign that it will progress any time soon. This to me seems ethnocentric and is just a stigma and the global village that we live in, culture has improved in every region and blacks have been seen embracing the culture of the whites. Africans can overcome the race prejudice as it is not grounded and progress is not linked to skin color. Lack of facilities like education and electricity by the blacks is due to the differences of the regions we occupy. Lutz and Collins chose methods of collecting data in a setting that takes into account the cultural diversity that is anticipated by the world’s population. It is human nature to compare ourselves as the world has power differentials and reading national geographic enable us to view things in a different angle that is not form a perspective of someone in a privileged class.
