Answer:
In your opinion, what is the author trying to convey What is the meaning behind the piece of writing?
(2 - 3 sentences)
Answer:
What the author tries to convey is that the people’s current lifestyle directly affects the environment through climate change, without realizing that people themselves, especially the ones who have a more luxurious lifestyle, contribute to the continuous usage and burning of fossil fuel, such as used in flights. Also, the author wants the readers to realize that efforts to stop climate change and global warming are not enough; in fact, most of them are useless because many talks have been provided than the action itself. The meaning behind this piece of writing is the reality that the global status quo of the world’s view towards climate change remains a mere knowledge and understanding, but most of the people tend to look away instead of doing their parts to save the environment.
What does the reading make you feel or what did you find yourself thinking in response to the reading? Did it change your opinion on anything or prompt a new idea or line of thinking? Describe why or why not.
Answer:
The reading made me feel more aware about what is really happening in our environment. The reading may have served as an eye-opener for me because the issue of climate change was discussed in a different manner. Thus, I also felt somewhat guilty when it comes to exercising minor denial about this emerging issue. I also learned and realized that many governments are getting more worried about the economic crisis than this environmental crisis. It did not change my onion about climate change that the issue must be addresses and acted upon immediately. This is not a sole responsibility of every country’s government, but it is every person’s call and obligation to give his or her contribution to stop the further warming of the planet. Thus, it is a collective effort that everyone must contribute for the benefit of the future generations who will serve as the next habitants of the earth.
