Whenever the word feminism is mentioned, it sends chills in most women since it is related to their gender. Most people relate feminism to females who in most cases are ever oppressed by their male counterparts, the cultural practices and the society in general. In their articles, Sara Ahmed, Abby Paige and Miglena, they have all tried to bring out the issue of feminism using different approaches. Miglena tries to explain the issues behind the conundrum of the obstinate weakening of the women’s contributions to culture. Women were rendered so inferior that they could not offer their decisions when it came to the formulation of the cultures in their communities.
The men were the ultimate decision makers who would outline what the community members needed to follow. Sara Ahmed brings out the feminist groups who had to endure a lot to fight the vice of feminism. It is indicated that most are the times that when they were having dinner, their mother would remain silent when they discussed most of the things with her sisters. Abby Paige outlines how women have managed to triumph in everything they engage in. Women are never given the space to enjoy themselves in the different fields ranging from politics to comedy would be easily recognized.
Most poets disregard women to the extent of heading their poems as “mothers are dead”. However, feminists have come with a different approach in explaining the poem. They simply stated that the women had been denied the voice and the privileges by the men to air their grievances thus murdering them. Women were being victimized by the men by the poet, “I look everywhere for grandmothers and find none’’ Elizabeth Barrett Browning contained in the article by Miglena. This could simply imply that in the past, no woman would be given hear say in the societies thus remaining silent in their entire lives, therefore, not able to find any grandmother when they looked for them. Despite the issue of feminism in the past, feminists have assembled and come together to fight the vice the inequality when it came to the sharing of the natural resources without any discrimination.
However, the poets try to bring out the issue of feminisms as earlier aired by Abby Paige. How could one easily compare women to children when they were laughing? In her article, Abby Paige states that laughing women are simply compared to children, farm animals and Halloween-style witches. Some of the critics have been proven wrong by Gracie Allen who was funny since she was a comedian in the article of Abby Paige. This attributes to how lowly women had been placed in the society as inferior beings with no value and those who had no sense to control themselves as they would be directed by the men. However, some women have become so bold to the extent of revealing some of their body parts to show that they can decide on what to wear and what to do. For instance, Hillary Clinton once showed her cleavage that caused a lot of friction in the men.
Ahmed Sara goes ahead to emphasize on feminism in her article, "Feminist Killjoys (And Other Willful Subjects)." Women had been looked down upon especially those who had some political aspirations. They were being dismissed by merely on their gender basis. However, they were not ready to let their dreams die because of their men but as a way of justification, the men would argue that women’s voices were the hard to listen. Some of the women were vocal were; Fran Drescher who rendered men sterile, Barbra, Rosie. Mary and Renee and contributed and consisted of the feminist groups.
Ahmed Sara was a feminist who was against the exploitation of women. She acknowledges that feminists had to be ready for all the negative efforts and comments directed to her. Not everyone was ready to side with their activities and they were being opposed form every direction. The society members would easily alienate themselves from them as they were regarded people who were hard to deal with and unpleasant due to their outspoken nature. Most feminists were unhappy since what they were fighting for was not forthcoming. They were known to be emotional people who brought a lot of tension in the society.
She argued that women were being denied the happiness they deserved. The feminists had to become willful, to fight all the challenges of being false fully attacked form all sides and they deserved to have the grace of patience and the spirit to press on. Political affiliations and politics played a big role in feminism. The recessions were being triggered by those in power thereby; making it hard for the feminists to overcome the vice since the powerful people were siding with it. Killjoy goes ahead to state that equality was achievable if the people were willing and ready to work towards feminism.
With regard to the sound of feminism, women should take the responsibility of joining hands and fight the vice since they are the ones affected as shown in the article by Abby Paige and this encouraged women to be bold like in the case of Hillary Clinton who showed her cleavage despite being amidst men. Sarah Ahmed also disregarded feminism since it denied happiness to the women, and for it to be achieved, all the women had to join hands to fight and condemn the vice openly. The women who have the resources and those who are well off economically should aspire to provide a solution to feminism. Education should be enhanced to the communities that still exercise some of the retrogressive cultural practices that have more harm than the benefits.
