I have had an innate interest in Computer Science as a field of study due to the immense opportunities open for professional growth. Moreover, I have actually remembered reading an inspirational book in high school about Larry Page, the co-founder of Google. I was immensely moved and motivated by his story. It provided the impetus for recognizing how computers enormously transformed the world. Currently, I have recognized that this field of endeavor is highly dynamic and multi-dimensional with applications to other industries. More importantly, the use of computers and its applications have been affirmed to be instrumental and contributory to changing the world. For instance, specializing in computer science inevitably touches sectors in health, education, business, manufacturing, and service, among others. Access to patients’ records and collaborative interventions from different professionals are facilitated. Therefore, promotional prospects are greater and providing high quality products and services are more convenient. In addition, graduates of Computer Science programs have the competitive advantage to excel since most applications are currently being practiced in all sectors of society. As such, my genuine interest in Computer Science is an affirmed advantage as it confirms my high academic performance during the past three (3) years at Purdue University and paves the way for becoming a great technical leader in the future.
Concurrently, my intention to transfer to Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is a move that would further increase chances for professional advancement. Since Georgia Tech specializes in technological knowhow, I would like to be part of their academic community, not only as a student, but also as a teaching assistant, if given the privilege. The experience of being the youngest teaching assistant at Purdue University opened avenues for acknowledging that teaching in the field of computer science is a potential future career. Likewise, winning the Best UTA Award in Computer Science Annual Banquet served as further affirmation that I am in my right field of study. My teaching assistant experience, award and project experience confirm embodied diversity, as well as being an innovative thinker and problem solver; as such, I definitely would be a good fit for this program. I envision contributing my talent and creative skills to the growth and developments in the field of computer science through revolutionary and innovative discoveries which would improve the welfare of mankind. I know that by transferring to Georgia Tech, my professional dreams would definitely come true.
