Introduction
The first module on knowledge management conveys that it is indeed vast and has encouraged us to conduct research in order to explore business intelligence and knowledge management systems, existing and integrating processes, coping up with diverse knowledge enabling structures and processes and accordingly monitoring the results from diverse concepts in organization. The course has helped in integrating and exploring technical, behavioural and managerial issues with respect to diverse organizational developments, outcomes, designs and strategies. This has greatly enhanced my knowledge about topics related to knowledge management and business intelligence and outside references and guidelines have further helped in clarifying certain doubts. The integrated approach used has helped in knowing about the diverse tools in business intelligence and the role of performance matrix in enhancing business decision making (Tolentino, 2013).
Especially the assignments provided have helped to better understand topics and concepts by referring to outside materials like articles, books and web pages and the manner in which business analytics can be effectively utilized to enhance business intelligence thereby promoting effective decision making. This has also helped in research and determining current trends, advantages and disadvantages of certain business analytic tools and the manner in which they overall contribute in enhancing knowledge management (Tolentino, 2013).
According to me, the course should have tried to include the roles and responsibilities of business intelligence managers and the manner in which their task differs from those of business analysts. One of the main reasons for ineffective business intelligence decisions is the lack of skilled manpower in this field and hence the course should have pointed out certain requirement which a business intelligence expert needs.
Conclusion
Overall the course has thoroughly enhanced knowledge about core concepts including business intelligence and knowledge management. It has also helped in understanding the importance of embracing business intelligence for firms to remain competitive and has further helped by supporting empirical studies on this aspect. The core construct of this course is the manner in which knowledge may be effectively managed in firms with the onset of big data to enhance organizational decision making. This has been optimally achieved as it has helped in clarifying certain hindrances and advantages and the manner in which effective decision may be taken (Blank, 2010).
